    Oh but I guess I am to assume that you; making above full post statement, do indeed know it all? I believe that my post clearly was referring to the issue of drivers idling NEEDLESSLY. I don't believe I ever advocated not idling period, when safety and comfort is obviously warrenting otherwise. Hmm now who looks stupid?

    And to dance;

    I am always amused when bitter solo drivers assume that a team never has to sit, never needs to idle, and has no idea oncesoever what 'real' trucking is about. Really do you read what you post sometimes? All I saw from the post was 'Wah I am not team so I am going to ###-u-me their opinions are invalid'

    This might help when you get a bogus speeding ticket for 65 mph or over too.

    A lot of Company trucks cut off after 5 minutes of idling.If they dont want you to idle then remove the A/C unit. If APUs were built years ago they would have been cheaper and more trucks would have them.I see more O/O trucks with APUs than these big COs but all they seem to care about is profit not the driver like you said.

    I try not to idle, but even 74 degrees in a truck stop with a reffer unit next to you, they idle all night to shut out the noise, so do I

    the co. i drive for has looked into buying apu's but nothing has been said and i dont think it would happen this year if they decide to get them,

    we are told that if we need idle time added to our % that we contact our DM and tell them what the temp is and how much we idled and they add it in, to me that shows some concern for it's drivers.

    as i sit in TS lot doing a reset its hot but i have my windows open and a fan going and it is bearable.

    If a company wont provide a APU and wont pay for Idle Aire, then I guess the company doesn't mind that the driver idles the truck. That doesn't mean that the company wants the driver to waste fuel by idling when he gets out to go to the bathroom, pay for fuel, or get a bite to eat. I agree that there is a time to idle just not all the time.

    If I owned a truck, then the absolute first thing I would by for it would be an Espar cab/engine heater for cold weather, and a BlueCooler (uses gel-pack heat exchange technology, so no fuel at all, and minimal electrical power)....for A/C in hot weather.

    If a company won't invest in this technology, yet forces me to run too slow, thus making me less safe, then I am gone, it's that simple.

    They're just using the fuel-saving justification to keep on screwing us, just like always....what a joke.
