Yesterday evening I saw a SNI truck in Kingman. It did not have their 800 #
    painted out. :biggrin_2556:

I'm thinkin' a disgruntled former or
present employee, or someone who just
doesn't like Schneider for whatever reason(s).
    Rejection, maybe?

    Mon-0-Man!
How many trailers could they paint out in a day at the Fontana yard?
    Twenty?
    Thirty?
    Fifty?
    Day after day.
    That'd add up pretty quick.

Or maybe it's the trailers goin' south of
    the border, into Meh-Hee-Ko?
    Number ON goin' down --
    Number OFF comin' back up.
We dun lie orange gringos. :biggrin_25523:

    :biggrin_25525:Hello mannmk7 and aftershock,
We ran up to Flag two Sats. ago and to Needless, CA. last weekend and we only saw 1 SNI headed East on 40. Last Sat weekend, no SNI on the road but did see 1 at the HWY95 south Pilot his /her shades pulled so I didn't bother the driver, I couldn't see the backdoors.
I did however notice SNI intermodel out numbered JB at least 10to1 on BNSF east and west bound intermodel trains.

I drove for Schneider for two years back in 03-03. Thinking about going back. The 800 numbers were painted over on some of the trailers back then too. Basically all it amounts to are drivers painting over them themselves so John Q Public can't call the number and report what a crappy job the driver is doing in getting that pumpkin down the highway. It has nothing to do with Schneider not hiring. They're ALWAYS hiring. However..that being said, the majority of new drivers coming in are alot better than they use to be and a 100 times better than what the Swift CDL mills turn out. It's always entertaining to watch a Swift truck pull into the Pilot or TA and see what he's gonna do.

Been reading this thread and getting a bit curious. Thinking of giving trucking a try, will be single, no house to tie me down but will probably be based in Ft. Mohave. Mom lives there so I can bunk with her, until I get rolling. I also lived in Fort Mohave for a while trying to open up a business that didn't fly. Relocated back to Asia where opportunities were supposed to be better, but a lot of turmoil on this end of the world also, not to mention the US economy issues affecting here too. Fuel just jumped 18 Percent overnight. Ouch!

Thinking of doing Mohave College/Sage driving school, don't really want to be tied to a company for a year. Last year I spoke with someone from the college, and they said their students all had job offers before they graduated. Not sure if that's the case now.

Since this board seems to deal a lot with the "old neighborhood" Mohave Valley, was wondering if anyone has gone the Mohave Valley/Sage Route.

Also, great information here, learned more about what's going on in Mohave Valley from this thread then from River Cites Business Journal on line.

Wow, it's great to hear people say they learn something.

I thought about MCC/Sage trucking school also. I went in and interviewed their representitive about 6 mos. ago. I read they are one of the best schools. I was talking to a friend of mine and he told me his friend was an instructor there. (Now your gonna get some of my inside information). His friend told him that they were having a little harder time getting students jobs than before. As it turns out I ran into the same guy and I told him I might be interested in driving. I asked him if they were having any more problems getting people driving jobs than before. He said no, then proceed to name companies like Swift, as well as no name companies.

If you didn't know Swift has it's own school. Training drivers is a part of the way they make money. It's a give and take. They give you training and you get paid a little less to begin with. I've been wrestling with getting on with them. After some thought I came to the conclusion it wouldn't be bad working for them. Go to there site. Check the training and the pay scale. Swift has a depot on I 40 just south of Kingman. There one of the biggest if no the biggest trucking out fits around. I don't know how Swift works but I would think that you could park your car at there depot.

On being single, no ties, the way I see it this is good. Most drivers always complain about getting home. If you don't have to get home then they don't have to worry about you as much. You will have to take time off at sometime.

Please note I'm not a driver, this is info I've gathered since 5/08 when I joined this site.

    Hope this helped you out.

    :biggrin_25526: :biggrin_25514:

PS If I could I would go with Schneider because of their training reputation.

    Hey IGM,

Funny I saw just the opposite on the BNSF east bound when I was in downtown Kingman just the day before yesterday. I had a thought and that was that they were all freight, no reffers. It may not be long till most or all freight goes on the train. They can't put reffers on the trains because they have to be monitored by someone.

I'm so glad you are having a decent experience!!!! :yes2557:

I know things are not perfect in the trucking world...... but I know for a fact that many people make life more difficult for themselves in other careers so why would trucking be any different? :biggrin_25520:

Keep us posted and be careful out there................. :biggrin_25525:

It's good to hear the trials and tribulations of a student driver. Looking forward to hearing more as time goes on. I'll bet some that come here looking to learn, as some have said they do, will be please to hear it too. With your report it can already be seen that things can get fouled up.

    Thanks :yes2557:
