Thing is they fly me to/from hometime Chicago to Florida and back...and they buy the return tickets at same time. So I don't want to wait til I get home seems that would piss them off for sure

    I guesse it varies.

They sure didnt pay for my plane ride home, tho!

If your company acrually buys you plane rides home then maybe they arent the same type of companies that royaly screw drivers over.

But at the same time i can understan wanyijg to take advantage of that free plane ride!

If you can use that return ticket later on down the road then that might not be too bad of a deal but don't over pack your trk if you do decide to quit. You sure are going along ways for a job, are'nt their any companies closer to your home?I learned long ago to work for a carrier within a hundred mile radius.

15 years ago when I was working for Buel Trucking. I told them I'm leaving on my return trip back to the Carolinas. They tried to get me to stay. Called enterprise rent a car and they came and pick me up. Cleaned out the truck at the terminal yard.

Coming from the voice on the other side of the conversation, it depends on how you feel about them. If as a dispatcher, I did my job and had a good relationship with you - you're going to tell me why you are leaving and give me a chance to keep you. If I can't, it is nothing personal. If I treated you poorly, you really don't owe anything other than getting the customer's freight and the equipment to their final destinations, that's your responsibility as a professional. If you were a disappointing employee, they might not mind you leaving at the next opportunity.

We always asked for two weeks, planned for one week, and expected 15 minutes once the conversation was had. Anything past that was bonus for the operation.

That's what I heard chinatown. That's a good thing, they ripped off so many drivers. Lied about what a load pays. But they always wanted that truck payment. I did okay there never was in the hole and got a new 379 to drive. Just couldn't take the b/s anymore

I always gave 2 weeks never got the EARLY BOOT , anyone quits on me and gives 2 weeks notice they get treated fair and ensure they are back in the yard for their last day to do the paper work , truck turn in and pay them what is owed.

Had 1 quit recently while on the WEST COAST gave 5 second notice ( he did not put much thought into it ) , he had a bugger of a time getting home to the East Coast with all his stuff and no company cell phone , but he was a Hot Head with a SCREW YOU attitude.
