Dryer Purges every 10-30 seconds

2006 Cummins ISX engine in a 2007 International 9400i.

I started having a problem with my dryer purging every 10-30 seconds. Did some research and ended up deciding to replace my Dryer Unit and the Governor. I replaced both and still had the same problem. After some more research, I replaced the unloader line from the governor to the dryer and the reservoir line from the governor to the tank, and the pressure controlled check valve. STILL have the same problem. I decided at this point it must be the unloader valves in the compressor head. I replaced the entire compressor with a remanufactured unit because the truck has 825000 miles on it. This STILL did not fix the problem. There are no audible leaks on the truck while it is shut off. I can't hear any while it is running, but who knows?

To recap the problem:

Compressor builds air to cutoff and purges, holds pressure at cutoff according to dash gauges and proceeds to purge every 10 to 30 seconds at idle. I can hear the dryer working until it purges, then it cuts off for a second then comes right back on until it purges again.

When I bring the rpms up above idle the truck does not want to build pressure. If the gauge reads 120, it will stay right there at 120 as long as the rpms are up. If you let it idle, it starts to climb again. (Governor set at 130 psi according to dash gauges.)

Could the turbo actuator control, air line, or valve be leaking while rpms are up?

I am out of ideas and would really appreciate some help with this. The mechanic that replaced the compressor said he has a truck that does the same thing and just to run it like that, it won't hurt anything. To my knowledge that is not how the system is supposed to work, is it ok to run it like this, or will it damage the compressor?

 

is it possible that the new governor could be faulty?

 

I just replaced both the governor and the dryer, you think the replacements could be bad?

 

this dryer is an av955205 from fleetpride.... I will try to find the plug on it, is this at the purge valve?

 

I think I will bypass the dryer tomorrow and see what that does. If that takes care of the problem, it has to be the dryer, right?
