I spent maybe 10-15 bucks a day the whole week that I was with a trainer and buying my own food daily.
No clue what might happen when I start my first solo OTR run tomorrow. Probably wont spend a lot on food as I don't eat a lot. But, I could see myself picking up knick-knacks in various states to celebrate the new job.
Do some OTR truckers really spend $60 a day?

You really have to budget your money in this field.
-
I am quite good at that.
Since I'll have my own truck, it will be easy to stock it with non-perishible stuff from grocery stores or wally-world to prevent spending money eating out every day.
Even buying things to 'celebrate' my first trips out wont last long. -
Its easy to budget if you put your mind to it.Stopping too much at trkstops can really get you in trouble. You're not a fan of snakes are you, lol.Do you own any if so what kind?

If you stop by a truck stop and observe for a bit, you'll see fellas/gals that spend a lot more than $60 if there is no all you can eat buffet available.truckon Thanks this.

Now I'm wondering how many Truckers get the Black Plague? Now wondering how much those guys pulling the wagon full of plague victims got paid? Might be a side job somewhere in this issue of hygene?

Ahh, the good ole $4.99 PBJ is waiting for you.

A $4.99 PBJ....

No thanks. I'll grab me a plain chicken biscuit with provolone from Royal Farms and keep motoring.
truckon Thanks this. -
Yes and it happens a lot. the inflated prices at truckstops don't help, but eating a lot in the diner are usually the biggest cause. I eat can goods about every third day.

Come on guys... theres ZERO reason to buy any food from a truckstop...this profession is hard enough on us...I personally spend about 6 days,a year overnight parked at a truckstop....I find a target, walmart, etc fuel and shower during the day at a truckstop no wait easy parking....its easy to eat good and cheap if your company gives you a refrigerator last night I parked at a Walmart in Dallas went in got skinless chicken and and a red pepper sliced it cleaned it out.....stuffed it with chichen some 4 cheese blend awesome. ...its not hard hell I could of put a hard boiled egg on it also...
