I just saw your question here. My name is Kate. I am the night dispatcher for Grand Island Express. I used to driver for them until I busted up my neck and lost my CDL because of it. I had a total of 22 yrs otr - I had only driven for them for one year before my accident. Rather than kick me to the curb, like so many other companies would have, they offered me this position and set it up so I can work from home 120 miles away from the terminal. GIX is the kind of company that is ALWAYS one step ahead on so many things. We are running elogs and have been for over three years. Our dispatchers were sent BACK to school to learn how to dispatch elogs legally. It is an entirely different mind set. One that requires a LOT of practice to get it right. All these companies who think they are just going to throw the computers in the trucks a day before the DOT deadline - they are in for a rude surprise. I fully expect to see dozens of companies in the toilet within 6 months of elog implementation. There is so much more I can tell you about this company.
