I just received my CDL and have decided to go with Schneider Bulk. I am planning on staying at least a year. I would like to hear all your opinions on who I should look into. I will want a place that I don't have to run hard. I want a place I can make at least $60k a year. I also want truck comforts such as an APU, inverter, etc. Who do you suggest?

Don't know about the other tanker companies ammenities. -
So what do you propose for your check? You need an expensive truck, refuse to work and want high pay? I hear mc Donald's is hiring. Really tho. Buy a truck after 2 years and try your hand at that.
Sorry I'm not trying to be too negative but starting out you need to expect to work hard, get paid little and live like a dog. After that you will learn where you can do and make what your asking for. Oh by the way I'm sure you don't mean 60k gross. Altho if your lucky you can expect that your first year with a decent starter company. -
BTW @Chinatown does a great job of keeping up with companies. He is honest and gives good advise. I would start there.

I made ~54k my first year with schnieder bulk. Its a good company to start with and you will make decent money if you have a good dbl and stay far away from chicago.

Thanks China, I have been reading these boards for a year and I chose SNI to be trained at because of you and Ethos. I will look into Oakly.

Thanks. I believe Oakley requires 12 months experience, but that may have changed. At least it's something to look at for the future.
Indian River Transport used to require 12 months, but now is 6 months experience. It's impossible to keep up with every company. -
Thanks for your input but I really don't want my own truck. Don't want the aggravation if it breaks down. I said I plan to work at SNI which they do run you hard, have no APUs, only allow a 200w inverter and the idle policy cuts into your bonus. After my employment with SNI I will be looking for company with the basic truck comforts. I don't think 60k is a lot of money for a tanker driver with one or two years experience and a clean record.

I was even thinking about Regional with SNI bulk. Where were you out of? Did you have to go to Canada?

I started at Superior Carriers right out of CDL school. We don't have APUs, but you can install any inverter you want. I just use the 170 watt plug in type for my laptop, but some guys have a fridge, Xbox, etc. I think Trimac pays $60K+ as well.
