Makes me wonder what happened to all these older trucks? I wish more guys would take the time to restore these pieces of history.

Four color paint was popular then, most of the new trucks had 4 color paint. That pic was taken at the paint shop, truck was yellow and black Rollins leasing colors.
You couldn't get anyone to drive it today, 156 inch spring ride, no power steering, am radio, and spring ride, not air, seat.truckon, KeithT1967 and ‘Olhand Thank this. -
Sounds almost like the old W9 I've got apart in the backyard. Rubber block walking beam suspension, solid mount cab, crappy old air seat. Rubber block is in the scrap pile and I've got KW air ride to replace it.

One doesnt see cab-overs much any more, why is that?

I think a lot of it is personal taste nowadays. I would love to build an old K100, 362 Pete, or even a Marmon cabover if I could find one.

Looks very much like a Midwestern distribution truck from Ft. Scott, Ks. (buy a truck for a dollar down). Mid 70's

This girl went to the truck show. There were a few old cab-overs. I like them in their rusty form, better than the super shiny ones in the video. The guy on the tv show "American Pickers" bought an old car, had it restored and painted so it looked like it was all rusty. Unique.

There was a guy a couple hours from me who had a 1957 Kenworth COE. I should have bought it but had no space for it at the time.

Back in the mid 70's. I was in a '74 KW Cabover/Sleeper out of Glen Cove, LI, NY. All 5 boros, NJ, and out on the road. 350 Cummins, RTO 12513, And No Power Steering. I still have forearms like Popeye from running that Truck

Walking beam suspension is probably why my back hurts so much today.
Got a lot of fond memories of those old trucks. But also a lot of not so fond ones. No ac, having to climb over the dog house to get into the sleeper. The sleeper being nothing but a mattress and two shoe box sized cabinets. no power steering. Air powered wipers and Windows that barely worked. Running west Virginia with a screaming 238. You could literally get out and run up the hill faster.OLDSKOOLERnWV Thanks this.
