Yahoo is click bait. If it wasn't for my very old email accounts. I'd never use that junk of a site and browse the stupidness.

Sounds about right willing to be always at work. Always upgrade in your next driving job. Learn new equipment.
Easy to say when single and zero kids. Some months go on a OT frenzy for the heck of it, because it's there. August just did 93 hours voluntary OT @1.5x.

Average 75 very un likely. too many drivers out there to bring it too about 40k.

The average pay is around $48k annually because the average driver is a putz. The top tier drivers should be closer to $70k-$90k+.

    Lepton1 Thanks this.

Again the average pay is 41,930 in 2014 according to the bureau of labour and statistics. Very few drivers bring home 70 to 90 thousand. even top tier. even if you make .50 cpm and average 120,000 miles per year that's only 60,000. Sorry to burst everyones bubble but facts are stubborn things.

Specialized hauling should command higher pay, unfortunately in most cases it does not.

With all the laws pertaining to trucking its getting harder and harder to make any money doing it the legal way.One week you could make real good money and the next week not even half that.

I'll give you more than an opinion. I'll offer fact.

I did 3 years at a better than average training outfit starting at 43k ended 3rd year as a trainer in the mid 50's

3 years to the day got on with a very good private fleet. Looking at 70-72k+ this year and only halfway up the pay scale. Much better equipment, lanes, benefits and home every weekend.

Any decent private fleet is a progressive step up from a training carrier. This was a 5 year plan I got it done in 3. The turnover rate where I am now is only 14% and almost all of that is retirements.

Don't bounce from one mega to another. Plan to move up, not laterally. One thing you must do to snag the better jobs is show longevity. Being able to put 2 years in somewhere will greatly enhance your chances to move into a retirement gig. Bouncing around will have you doing just that forever.
