To be fair on other folks thought i would just check the original post .This was asked; What is the the MOST money a rookie can earn his first year? What is the average? Any do's or dont's? some of those folks were down right rude to you Josh and borderline cyberbullying glad you stuck to your story i noticed your from QLD thats stands for Queensland don't it? We passed by there in 80,81 on board a naval ship us grunts didn't get no shore leave but that's another story you Ozzies are alright in my book, helped us out a few times in Nam i take my hat of to you folks. And don't take no lip from those guys there talkin a whole lot of hogwash.

Too right it does it is also the Sunshine State like FL, Beautiful one day Perfect the next or as some our northern cousins in the wet tropics say Beautiful one day Pouring down rain the next. Thanks mate for your support also nice to know someone else out there is in the know.

I did some serious drinking and other stuff, beer/whiskey/opiates/absinthe, etc. with Aussies when we were on R&R in Hong Kong from Vietnam. Wild days back then. I was there when the USS Frank E.Evans, American destroyer, was sliced in two by the HMAS Melbourne an Aussie aircraft carrier. The destroyer turned in front of the carrier, so it wasn't the carriers fault. The front part of the destroyer sunk, but the back half wouldn't sink so it was towed to Subic Bay, Philippines. I saw it tied up to a dock there. They stripped it then took it out to sea and sunk it. Lots of crazy stuff happened during those years.

My 1st year w/ a mega carrier, I grossed 45K. We got a raise last November, so my 2nd year will be around 65K +.
I am on a Target dedicated account, get .44cpm + $75 safety weekly bonus + $15 per stop pay. All D&H. I come home almost every night w/ the truck/trlr and I'm lucky to have a safe place to park it just down the street from my house. I was home every night this week.
There are only 32 of us drivers on the account, so we don't feel like just a number out of 22,000 other drivers.
I could make more at walmart, but would lose the 'coming home w/ trk' bonus. Plus, WM reefer runs nights only. Sometimes, it's not just about the money.
No way I could work at DG, just not strong enough. Sure, it's good pay, but is it worth the back problems yet to come?
May I suggest that you consider the training program of whatever co you choose. Schneider only offers 1 wk of OTR w/ a mentor, hardly enough for any newbies.
Goodluck!
