Called Iowa 80. They said they don't put salt or pepper on their buffet items. Leave it to the customer to put it on. Stupid if you ask me.
Better place in Iowa to go for food is the Quick Star truck stop. I-80 exit 201 in Brooklyn, IA. Got a buffet and a c-store that sells awesome bakery items.
Iowa 80: It is big, but...

Ummmmm these guys: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iowa_Department_of_Transportation_Motor_Vehicle_Enforcement_Agency
The two agencies are not even affiliated with each other. And if a Trooper gets you, they WILL call the proper agency in to inspect your truck. -
It has parking, restrooms and showers, what more do you want ?

New Mexico has the state troopers and DOT separate as well but both are divisions of the New Mexico Department of Public Safety. They are looking at merging the State Police and Motor Transportation Police. The DOT cops already have state police duties but the regular state police can't enforce trucking regs.

yes they ALSO have separate diesel bears only.....but every reg trooper Is DOT qualified and they do/will inspect you....1/2 the states in the country have seperate motor carrier enforcement divisions.....but the regular troopers all still can/will do inspection...typicallly though Working troopers...will only do leveln111...since Most don't carry portables&creepers.....and don't kid yourself in Todays CSA climate....anytime you get stopped for any reason by a State officer(&lots if smaller jurisdictions also) you're gonna get at least a level 3

Looks like I stand corrected (to a point):
There are 10 Troopers state wide that are trained and qualified to "assist" in DOT Motor Vehicle Enforcement duties.
In Iowa, the DOT (MVE) have the same authority as the ISP...but the ISP have only 10 Troopers with the training and qualification of the DOT (MVE).
Regardless; they both have badges, guns, and ticket books---so it's best to avoid an unwanted conversation with either.

Yeah, basically its a tourist trap. About three times I've spent several days parked there including one winter a few years ago when I had a raging case of the flu. I like shopping in the store. I always pickup a few of the little truck models with the football teams. One time I bought a Denver Broncos truck and some silver jewelry and gave them to a lady friend back home.

The Iowa 80 is just like those other truckstops with a chrome/toy/trinket shop in them. Seen 1 u've seen them all. As for the bland food(there & many other places I've endured)by me being from the South, I have an easy cure for that...I just carry a few cans of Cajun spices & cayenne pepper from home in a ziploc bag!!!
