Okay, I want to first just say all three trucks are great, and probably the best trucks on the road.
What makes a truck the better truck? It's not just the engine, it's also the quality of the trucks build I believe.
If i'm not mistaken, Western Star is known for the best truck in heavy hauling, it's a royal beast that can tackle any load and any road.
Pete's I heard are the king of the highways, although kenworth is made by the same company what makes them different? Which one is better?
All in all, out of the three trucks which one is best to you guys? And if you can please explain why it's good and why it's bad it would help educate me a bit more. Thank you.
Pete, Kenworth, or Western Star

Gilbert , I am a newbie to posting , but not to this website . I am a huge fan of PACCAR products , leaning towards Kenworth . But , Western Stars are a very special breed . Perhaps the strongest cab-chassis combo available . Especially prior to Freightliner ownership . All of the trucks that you have asked about are great , BUT , to each his own . You can expect more posts and more in-depth opinions . Good luck in whatever you decide .
Gilbert24 Thanks this. -
PACCAR build very low power engines, maybe better on fuel, but not as reliable as CAT, Cummins, or Detroit. Just my opinion. Western Star are also more cost in fuel, and payload. Yes it's a tough beefy truck but Pete's I think are the Icon and best quality made truck on the road today.

Having driven all three brands, a 96 Pete 379, an 07 w900, and my current '13 4900ex glider, I liked the w900 the best. But the star is just as nice. All three were spec'd similar, the 379 and the star have E-model cats set at 550, the w900 was a Cummins. They all performed pretty much the same.
It all comes down to the ride and creature comforts. (For me anyway) The w900 was superior in this area. But the stat did ride much nicer I thought.
The Pete? Well, it ran good, other than that, I don't see what the hype is all about. (I'm sure many will disagree, but who cares)Last edited: Sep 14, 2015
