"Get busy living, or get busy dying!"
I had an uncle that died at 30 in bed from a heart attack and a cousin that died at 21 from an aneurysm.
Read the obits, there are many ways to die and you do not have to be old.
"One of the greatest fears, is the fear to live." "It is true heroes do not live for ever, but cautious people do not live at all."
Whether we like it or believe it, we have an appointed day to meet our Creator, so be ready...the clock is ticking. . . . .

Hope the op is ok,he hasn,t been back. But he,s not wrong for feeling that way.And you know what they say,you can,t get away from how you feel.It was far safer years ago, driving 100mph plus trucks, than driving today. Most people today don,t want to be in a truck, there forced into it.Because they can,t find a job. If you don,t have a interest in something and don,t apply yourself. Your never going to accel and you,ll be a danger to everyone. I,m back doing Chicago railyards to Wi. where I had the truck shot 3 times running nights,in the past. Still safer than otr and pays a lot more too. I think some drivers don,t value there own Lifes, so they don,t care about another persons life.Think about it, if you have a awesome life would you pull out broadside in front of a on coming truck. They have actions of a person that doesn,t care about there own life.
okiedokie Thanks this. -
I just quit a $27/hr job because of the rediculous unsafe drivers. 2 near head-ons in 1 day, that was it. The criminally insane are driving the roads of America. Don't need it in my life.

If a fella was scared of getting hit head on, I would think a truck would be the vehicle of choice. Back when the T600 anteaters first came out, a friend of a friend was with the old Kingsway Transport and he had a regular run from Toronto to The 'Peg and back. I was in college at the time and I would occasionally meet him on Hwy 11 and we'd talk on the CB for a bit. He did that run for years. A few years afterward, I asked my friend how he was doing.
"Oh, he was killed in an accident. Drunk driver hit his car head on." -
The more miles you spend on the road the higher the % become. Until you've been in a vehicle that is crushing around you as the windows blow out in less than a few seconds. You don't forget that. Even if your in the truck that the car hits. You just get to go home.

You're not alone, from time to time I've had the same fear. But, mine stems from a real source, the accident I was in back in '01, subconsciously it has stirred something that dredges up odd fears from time to time. I don't so much get the fear on a divided highway, but more so in a construction zone with two-way traffic sharing the same side of the highway. I've been doing several loads to Grand Junction, and with the construction on 70 in Glenwood Canyon, you can see the obvious signs of idiots not paying attention and taking out the dividing markers, this has lately triggered my fear.
But, maybe, I'm also growing up? I'm 47, think it's time? Did a run recently that I've done many times, where I'll "hot dog" it running US 550, taking serious chances with speed and curves. This last time, not so much, still sped in a few areas, but not like in the past. Also, for some reason, since my gall bladder surgery back in June, I've noticed a subtle change in my attitude about things, outwardly, as they were wheeling me in for surgery I commented that I was nervous, no one said anything, but WOW, deep down, I was beyond nervous. -
