This is what I've been considering, my family are well loved at the company, and my cousin is a union rep for the company, it would be great if that's all she said to me, I dislike beating around the bush.
Seeking advice with two job opportunities.

Because my family thinks I am rushing into just any job.
They love my brother in-law a lot, they treat him very well, my cousin is a union rep and he got my brother in-law in the company, and now it seems like no one wants to help me get my foot in, I'll ask my brother in-law if he heard anything and all he tells me is how busy "she" is. -
Just sounds like the potential for too much drama to me. If you get in and don't like it or the company don't like you where does that leave the family members that may have "pulled strings" to get you in?.
If the administrative office staff are playing games, not being honest and ignoring calls then is it really such a good place to work?. The pay and benefits would have to be significantly higher than the other job to put up with that nonsenseGreenMonster9669 Thanks this. -
Pass on the job with your relatives.
Do your own thing.
Right or wrong, atleast you won't look like a sheep.
Be a leader, not a follower...God knows we already have enough Sheeple.
Go to orientation!Sneakerfix, Poacher, d o g and 2 others Thank this. -
Do u guys know anybody that work for united road if so how do they pay and treat they drivers
-
I would take the job too. It's been said before but she doesn't seem too eager to push your application through. If she wanted to help she would. Sign of things to come IMO.
I wouldn't want to wait a few more weeks to go to work. Your losing out on money if you do.
IMO I'd be in orientation. -
Uh, yeah.
Not for nothing, but it's been my experience that management usually doesn't have much love for any union members, especially union reps. They're the ones that bring grievances against the company, and represent aggrieved workers fighting company policies/procedures/actions.
Me thinks maybe your family members are overestimating the "love" they think the company has for them.
Like someone else said- avoid the BS and drama and start the other gig Monday. Or don't, and enjoy your free time until the boss lady has time in her busy schedule to get to your application.....Poacher and Michael91184 Thank this. -
Maybe the lady handling your app for the local position just dropped the ball and was trying to save face.
If you really want to work for them and you feel it's a better fit, don't take a perceived no for the final answer. Go down to their office in person on Monday and talk to them face to face. If they slam the door in your face, I'm sure the other company can wait a day or two. -
Companies don't want too many relatives in the same company. It can turn into a disaster, especially a union company when the relatives gain seniority and start acting as if the family owns the company. That's why they aren't going to hire you.
Ohio is loaded with good jobs, so take one of them. Dutch Maid is one of them.Sneakerfix Thanks this. -
Go with the job you HAVE and not the 1 you WANT. If they end up calling you weigh out your decisions. Stay or leave. If you have the money to stay out of work then go for the job that MIGHT call. I have never see a bill that says pay me when you get a chance.
