They will fix it, if the average consumer is willing to pay for it. If they need the water that bad they can fire up de salination plants and take water from the ocean. It uses a lot of energy to run though. There is also talk of a pipeline or even training in tankers of h2o. Which would result in an increase in the commodity produced, by how much? I don't know but I'd like to know (for strawberries in particular!). If Cali can't produce as much as it previously could the product price will go up anyway, and it will come from Mexico or off a boat from a far away land. It will all come down to, will the consumer pay the higher price or not.
I can't get enough of Cali strawberries ... I would pay.
Is California REALLY Enforcing Against Older Tractors??

There's been talk that El Niño is suppose to help California gain some ground.. watching and waiting.. we shall see. .
Quote:
The current buzz in cafes across California is that snow from this year’s big El Niño will bring the best skiing in years. What fortunate skiers don’t realize is that the same periodic ocean-atmosphere interaction in the Pacific Ocean is one of the most devastating natural forces on Earth, endangering the wellbeing of over three billion people across the tropics. El Niño creates winners and losers on a global scale. Each year is like planetary roulette, and the current forecast is for families in the tropics to suffer in the coming months.

I recall walking in a Safe way in norcal one winter month.. not thinking I picked out a watermelon and placed it in my cart along with a few other items.
At the check out isle the cashier gave me one of those looks.. I said what? She asked if I was sure I wanted the watermelon at $20.00 and change. . I was floored. Of course I said I think I'll pass on it this time around.. thanks..
Who pays those kind of prices? -
$20 for a watermelon is ridiculous. But I guess if you have to have it ...
I just love Cali grown strawberries. They seem to taste the best. We pay a range of 4-6$ (cdn) for a 1 pound plastic box of them. Even if it was a consistent 7-8$ ... I'd still buy them. But beyond that .. I'd still buy them except far less often.
The same thing can be said for bacon. It used to be 4-5$ a pack, then it went to 8-9$ .. Now I rarely buy it.dca Thanks this. -
Hmmm, sarcasm he doesn't get, me thinks. Hmmm? My post, I thought, was about as facetious as a person could get.
But on a serious note, why even bother going to a state that will pull the truck over for going 4 mph over the posted speed while cars go blasting by at 20+ over? And then the rates? Ha! I'm glad I own a truck with a legitimate excuse to avoid Commiefornia. -
Won't help the drought in California though. California is doomed for produce. Most groundwater is depleted and the ground is sinking. Scientists say it's possible the sinking will leave no room for water storage because the aquifers will be gone.

Maybe they'll get record snowfall high up in the mountains and will slowly melt as the temperature slowly rises ... I'm convinced they will fix it. One way or another. Probably take a few years of famine before it gets done though.

I'm hearing all kinds of this and that's as well as scientists manipulating weather, inducing etc.. I don't know what the truth is. Science is giving birth to all sorts of news. We'll have to wait and see if there's any truth to it and how ugly it might getLast edited: Sep 21, 2015
