I went to work with this company in March of this year. I went in, and purchased a 2011 International Prostar through Bush Truck Leasing. Things started off well I went from Dallas to Charlotte to pick up the truck. That's where the problems started I was informed after I had just driven 1300 miles in my car that I could not leave it parked at the terminal/warehouse. Which led to the question why not this is my domocile terminal. Then I am informed that not only can we not leave cars there we can't leave our tractors there either. Anyway after raising hell for a day and calling corporate I finally get approval. So now get in truck and take off. I am told that I have 45 days and that anything I find wrong with it they will repair so I get my list together. Two weeks into this ordeal I am out in Arizona and a four wheeler runs over a gator and throws it into my grill busting my grill, radiator and oil cooler so going into shop in Phoenix, might as well get it all repaired. Well a month later and a $5,000.00 dollar rental truck bill. I get the truck back things are going okay I am running. Then things start to go wrong with the truck. I am constantly in shop and blowing through my maintenance escrow. I loose my Air conditioning in July, go in shop they keep it a week tell me its repaired. Go pick up load make it 5 miles and A/C goes back out, take it back to shop three days later I get it back head out with load make Nashville and A/C goes out. I call the repair shop and they tell me they will make it good, but gotta bring it back to them . (Raleigh, NC) I call load planner explain whats going. A few minutes later get a call from co-ordinator telling me that she can't repower load and that I need to deliver load then get repaired so we are talking about a 4600 mile round trip in 113 degree temps without A/C. I refused, dropped load on Nashville yard as instructed and bob-tailed home for repairs. Bright and early Monday morning I was called by the terminal manager and told my lease was cancelled, and I quote because "our business models don't match" I ask him if he meant the model where I refused to drive 4600 mile without A/C, You know I learned long ago while serving in the military that you never ask anyone to do what you aren't willing to do yourself. You folks all know that there isn't one person in that office that would drive that far in that kind of weather without A/C.
As an added surprise They never paid me for my last two loads and they kept my escrow and oh yeah they are threatening to sue me for over $8,000.00
Drivers beware this is a very bad company to work for they will treat you like you are an idiot, and they do the very minimal to support you. It is an environment of CYA ( cover your own ###) and no one does anything that isn't absolutely required of them. If I heard its not my job once, I heard a 1000 times.
Once again beware of these guys.

I would fire you too. It's ac open your Windows deal with it.
jn1427, browndawg and joseph1135 Thank this. -
apparently you are un informed, Per OSHA and FMCSA air conditioning is required in a tractor with sleeper berth. I would like to see you make a 4600 mile trip in a truck without A/C in 113 degree temps. if you say you would you are ####ing liar. All you have to do is check social media such as Glassdoor and you will see that they have a bad Reputation. I have been trucking 30 years and never was treated this poorly by a company. If they had offered hotels for my breaks I would have went on with load.Last edited by a moderator: Sep 22, 2015

So you wanna be an owner op but have company pay for hotels? Treatment was that bad? Take your truck and leave. I've driven my truck with no ac slept in it with no ac. You better call dot on me. Cuz my ac does not work right now. Show me where in csa it says ac has to work?KeithT1967 Thanks this.

They have been burning up my phone and email to get me to come over.
As to the AC thing...keep in mind this was by choice... two years ago on our old San Antonio team dedicated... The truck's ac died just coming out of San Antone... It was a Friday and our company said it was up to us if we wanted to suffer through or be jammed up all weekend in a motel waiting to be fixed. We took the former and it was a very hot August. It truly sucks to be in a truck with no ac for 1200 miles...lol -
I have a black 2011 Prostar.
My A/C went out in Ripon California in mid June. It was clear and in the high 90's. The following day I drove through Needles, it was a typical cloudless 115 degree day. Skipping the rest of the itenerary...
I've been through Needles three times. I ran into Washington at the peak of this summer's worst heat wave. The worst was a 95 degree day in Ft Smith AR, humidty was a pleasant 94%. I've spent over $5k on my a/c since it started acting up. Guess what... I didn't throw a fit to get out of a load I agreed to carry. You want to be an O/O you do the job, period. The time to deal with comfort issues is after you get empty. You cry about 4600 miles? I'm over 30 thousand without a/c.
No matter what Roadrunner did afterwards you failed to live up to your end first. Kinda like the trespasser who gets bit then sues the homeowner.Last edited: Sep 22, 2015

If I'm leasing a truck (and I'm not) that they agree to repair, and they don't, I'm also going to start refusing things.

For starters unless youre driving in circles on a planet with no night you're not driving 4600 miles in 113 degrees.
Next up, your claim that A/c is required in a sleeper equipped CMV....
http://www.fmcsa.dot.gov/faq/are-mo...de-air-conditioning-commercial-motor-vehicles
"Are motor carriers legally obligated to provide air conditioning in commercial motor vehicles?
The FMCSRs do not address this issue."
FMCSR: Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations
I couldn't find the regulations for a planet where you can travel 4600 miles in consistent 113 degree temps.
Finally... OSHA
"• Part Number: 1926
• Part Title: Safety and Health Regulations for Construction
• Subpart: O
• Subpart Title: Motor Vehicles, Mechanized Equipment, and Marine Operations
• Standard Number: 1926.601
• Title: Motor vehicles.
• GPO Source: e-CFR
1926.601(a)
Coverage. Motor vehicles as covered by this part are those vehicles that operate within an off-highway jobsite, not open to public traffic. The requirements of this section do not apply to equipment for which rules are prescribed in 1926.602."
OSHA regs do not cover CMV's engaged in commerce on a public road. Further There is no mention of Air conditioning in any of the motor vehicle regs even in off highway use.
