When looking for a company to hire on as a new driver, should one give any weight to csa scores? Why or why not?

Entry level? No, not really. Seems like every entry level company has the same problems and doing the same Playbook. On the higher end companies, absolutely. The worse a company's scores are, the less high end freight that company will see.

i think so. it gives one a picture of the safety, maintenance, drivers, etc. any government interventions, etc.

the higher the score, the more likely, i'd not want to apply.

It depends on how addicted to living you are. Companies with lots of crashes are more likely to end your addiction. As a new driver you want trainers with at least five years of experience and excellent safety records. Any company that doesn't offer that combined with a low CSA score, don't go near them.

I'd say so. Look at the full record not just the percentages. Someone here posted they show total miles driven on those reports, divide that number by the number of drivers and see if the recruiter is lying to you about mileage

Companies look up drivers csa scores and if too many points they won't hire you.So yes looking up a companies csa score will tell you what their safety rating is but keep in mind the best safety doesn't mean they're a good company, thats when you come here and get opinions on a certain company rather then from recruiters.

Yes...I thought they weren't until I worked for a company with high scores...zero accountability...which isn't a good environment to work in.

They were running new equipment...decent pay and reasonable benefits.

A company with a higher CSA score will tend to have more inspections aswell. So you could expect to be pulled in more often too and get inspected. As smartin said they lack or have zero acountability. So dont expect your equipment to be in the best of shape. When i was in school i actually got to go into a scale house and talk to the officers and when you are coming up to the scale they see everything about the company and if they csa score is high than the chances of getting inspected are higher. He also said if the csa score is really bad he will inspect every time.
