I recently purchased a 2000 Freightliner FL112 day cab, running local. My biggest complaint about this truck is its one rattling, shakin SOB. The mirrors shake when backing into docks, making it a pain to see what youre doing. Its got the old style basic mirrors, they are heated but #### do they shake. Anyone had this problem and have a way you fixed it??

It's caused by the vibration the engine makes. Trying to track that down will be a lot of trial and error. Start by making sure the mirror and doors are still nice and tight. Then work your way back to the engine checking every mount and bushing among the way. hopefully you find a worn cab bushing or engine mount. If not you may be looking at a worm out crank balancer or dampener.

What's your idle speed? If the shaking stops at just above idle RPM you might be able to get the dealer to bump the idle speed up a couple RPM. I would check for loose/worn parts like Spyder suggested first.

Try to use the cruz. con. switch to rase the idle and see if it says hi after its in gear?

thanks for the input everyone! I've had the truck looked at by my company's mechanics, they just tell me its normal for it to shake and that those mirrors are just like that. If the idle is bumped up just a bit it takes care of all that rattle/shake, smooths right out.

Man that's just how those old 112's were.
The mirrors almost pulsed to the thumping of the motor, sometimes made them completely useless.
