Sad companies have to resort to trickery to get the drivers.Theres another driving job on cl only for a guy that has 5 units.First he only posted one ad now hes posting 3 separate ads but for the same position,I saw just this morning trying it make it sound like the ultimate driving job.Serves these employers right they can't find drivers.Im currently unemployed but afraid to apply anywhere because they actually might hire me,lol.

The good drivers are getting smarter! We even tried to research SLT and only found 1 adverse thing said bad about them. Which we didn't feel was anything that would affect us. Plus the guy just sounded pissed off. And once you piss someone off they can make Disneyland sound like a horrible place to go. So we figured we'd give it a go. The pay was almost double what both of us were making. But it ended up being less and with them acting like they are paying the Per Diem out of their pocket really got my goat. I don't like being tricked or played like that. Before orientation our recruit fed us a bunch of bull. And then after we started driving and seeing that the pay wasn't adding up. He played it off like he NEVER said those things to us. Even the truck we were promised. The day we got our truck #s and taken over to the yard to get them we were like hold up! We were supposed to have a KW T680... How would I even know the type if he hadn't told us. It's little things that add up to make it a whole lot of no good.

I don't know why companies have to lie and/or leave the important stuff out in their ads, they'll still have the trouble of keeping drivers for very long.

They lost at least 5 of the recruits in my orientation. Could be more by now. But I guess they'll find the suckers that are barely scraping by at whatever jobs they have and be okay with the way SLT runs things. Just not my cup of tea. I know what I'm worth and I know what I bring to the table.

If you are into that kind of work you might want to check Boyle transportation, i think they have a way better reputation than slt.

    Good luck

I recognize this is largely a place for drivers to share information . . . but hopefully it's accurate information being shared. Unfortunately this thread was started by someone who chose to use many inaccurate and inconsistent statements. SLT transports AA&E freight for our Military. . . which means that SLT drivers are expected/required to meet minimum thresholds higher than most companies. All of our team drivers are required to obtain SECRET level clearance via the Department of Defense. . . so if you don't disclose issues that would prevent you from getting a clearance, it's a problem.

Here's the truth of the issues expressed:

    · Pay - SLT drivers are guaranteed either $150/day or $171.43/day depending on endorsements and DOD Clearance status + cpm bonuses.
    · Per diem - Per diem is simply a tax strategy that drivers can participate in . . . OR OPT OUT of! In this case, Driver is paid the full $150 - $95 taxed, $55 of its non-taxed
    · Idle time - Not true, SLT drivers are not penalized for idle
    · Layover/Detention - SLT team drivers are paid the guarantee day pay, which exceeds any layover/detention pay
    · 90 day bonus - at the time Driver was hired, there was a 90 day delay before eligible for bonuses. We listened to Drivers and removed the 90 day eligibility requirement, Drivers are now eligible for bonuses immediately

We don't do everything perfect, but here's some other facts to consider:

    · Current SLT turnover is less than 30%, most trucking companies are over 80%, some over 100%. So we must be doing somethings right
    · All SLT trucks are 12 months or newer
    · SLT is the #1 transporter of AA&E and we grew this company by 30% in 2015 by adding high quality teams

We're not a good fit for all Drivers . . .however, if you're an experienced professional, with ability to pass background checks, we're probably a great fit!

Hmmm.... there seems to be a lot of inaccuracies about SLT
Maybe SLT better get to the bottom of this mess
This is the beginning of a nation wide public notice on SLT not only for drivers across this country but also SLT accociates, costumers & affiliations
.... Surely there is a reason for so many drivers to come forth with this kind of detailed information
    about how SLT operates
....our government has trusted this organization ( SLT) with high level transfer of hazardous materials
.... This job only pays $150 a day to the driver?
