Not to worry, truckon, you aren't alone there. Many moons ago, I was very green, as green as the R model Mack I was driving, pulling a dump trailer to pick up a load of silica sand in Bridgman Mich., I was empty, rolled into the New Buffalo (?) scale on I-94, I had the green light, so I mashed the throttle, and just then, the light turned red. I figured it MUST be for the truck behind me, (after all, I was empty) got about halfway down the entrance ramp, I see this fat-butt cop waddling towards his cruiser, I thought, oh-oh. I stopped before the end of the ramp, he gets out of his car, and no foolin', this guy was a cross between Buford T. Justice and Joe Higgins. He said, "why didn't you stop for the red light", I told him, and rather than back down the ramp, the 500 ft. he says, "You follow me right back to the scale". ( the whole time, I'm trying to drive and fill out my log book) We went all the way to the next exit, about 10 miles, 15 miles back to the next west bound exit, and 5 miles back to the scale. He did get my boss for some stupid registration snafu, but let me go. :biggrin_25523:

I had an LTL load, zoned out while I was loading, only when I got the red light did I figure it up and was like ####! Im over weight. Pulling around back I was 100% caught. So instead I gave her fuel and got the hell outa there. They never did catch me.

I had this occur to me In Memphis Tn I was coming toward the scale on I-40 WB Side. My brethren truck drivers wouldn't let me over after I moved over for them so they could merge onto the interstate safely. Anyways even though I got a green light I was hauling a hazmat and when i spoke to OOIDA they said even if you get the green light in all states you must come do a roll by on the inner scale. A DOT officer got behind me and followed me to a safe location, because if I could of I would of pulled over on the side of the road and checked in with DOT to explain what had occured. Anyway once at a safe location, he asked me if I was familiar with code $!#/! $#// and I said I'm not and that I do apologize for passing the scale, but I don't know all of the codes by hard. Anyways he went on ahead and gave me a citation and a court appearance. He then went on to told me what to say in court, go figure. Anyways I have TVC so I didn't have to go to court I called them gave them my statement on what happen, in turn the TVC lawyer told me how mich my fine would cost I sent a money order. I received no points, no moving violation on my MVR, nothing just a fine. Hope this helps each situation and state is different.

I love how the general consensus is you should never miss a scale because you weren't paying attention, but IF intentional, run like heck. LOL.

If the scales are backed up to the point that you feel you are endangering the public by being still on the highway, do you stay? Or do you proceed? I bypassed banning once because it was so backed up - didn't get pulled over.

I've never been pulled around back at Greenwich, been rolled through a few times, the rest of the (many) times I've passed it have usually been between midnight and 0200. Don't often find them in there at that hour, unless they're really looking hard for something.

You can bypass that scale by getting off exit 1 and getting on exit 3
