They start orientation on Monday at around 8:30 AM. It's not all that difficult there's no drivers test or anything like that you just sit there basically watch a few videos. They only hire people who have one year of over the road experience so they expect that you would know the job by this point. Then you come back on Tuesday go over contract stuff and meet with the different departments, come back Wednesday get in your truck get a load and go. Walk in to dispatch tell him where you want to go to though get you on your way. For us at Bergner we have a lot of refrigerated loads that are going out to California right now. Easy 1400 miles there and back. Also you can broker your old loads if you wanted to with other brokers. My buddy Sean who went to orientation with me spoke to a different road Runner broker in California and got a load from there all the way back to Ohio that paid really good.
As far as orientation if you're going as a lease purchase it's the start of your business so you're paying for everything yourself . They do make you pay for your own motel room, or like me I just have them pay it and then take it out of my first weeks settlement . I stayed at the super eight it was only about $45 a night it was really nice . Now take in mind if you decide to go with another road runner company a lot of what I just said may be different.

You'll NEVER, EVER get a simple straight answer to that one.

Im a LO at schneider and i love it. Pick all my loads off a load board, have no dispatcher, choose where and when i wanna run, great money, and best part hometime when and for how long you want. Its complete freedom, IMO this is the best gig for an OTR lease job, by far.

S what's your fixed coast buddy I'm hearing so much good things about that Schindler choice program I might just have to give in to it
-
My fixed is around 1k for everything, but i have a new kw 680 so its a little higher, you also have to put down 5k for the kw the freightliner is 0 down.

Do you have to start as company driver first?

I am looking into a L/P too. But I keep hearing that the West Coast Schneider board has terrible rates and since I live in So Cal this could be an issue.

Yep, dry van freight in the Western 11 is tough with Schneider. Getting around and in and out of the West is going to be way better with a refrigerated carrier.
Bumper Thanks this.
