So far so good. I have been getting better and better at the loading process. Yesterday morning I finished loading in a little over an hour and a half (HDPS product, one of the easier products to load I have found.) I am running regional out of Morris and everyone I have worked with as far as terminal managers and dispatchers have been very friendly and help full. I had a really good trainer and he will always answer my phone calls if I have questions out on the road. I am happy with the money I have been making so far. I really am starting to enjoy the job now that I am getting a hang of it. I will be heading down to South Carolina tomorrow which is nice because its about 5 degrees outside right now in Illinois.

I was down at your terminal last week. Picked up a load of PET at the DAK plant. That stuff is great, easy to load. It unloads really fast only took me about 1 hour.thelastrebel Thanks this.

Any info on the Parkersburg WV terminal
? -
I have been there twice and just picked up pre-loaded trailers. It is smaller than most of our other terminals. I guess the place you load at near that terminal does not have a on-site scale, so that makes the loading process take longer. Also i guess you cant blow product back into the rail car if you over load. The last pre-loaded trailer I picked up from parkersburg was over weight on the drives and I got a ticket in Georgia. But the fine goes to the company, so not my problem.

Parkersburg has about 20 drivers based out of there, its mostly regional freight with some system mixed in but good miles on the loads and all the people there are top notch. Jim Broadwater the Fleet Manager there drove for the company for a number of years as a company driver and owner operator and even dispatched so he knows a bunch and helps answer questions from new employees/drivers.

Can you tell me what the physical capacity test involved please?

Pretty standard stuff. Lifting , pulling, step ups. Nothing real major or anything. There's not a standard, cause depends on what place is used in and at which terminal. I have high blood pressure and on meds and it wasn't anything that I worried about. it's mostly cause you are actually lifting hoses and climbing on top of the trailer and sometimes railcars if not vented. That's the real reason for it. IMO

Anything good or bad to say about highlands terminal as a company driver? Thinking about applying next year. Only have a few months of experience as a local driver and 2 years as a mechanic. Don't think it helps out much.

Worked for them 95 - 03. Paid percentage when I started. Waiting list to get hired. More money than I ever made in my life. Just like any other company after being sold twice. Go to Hoffman for a good job.
