Well, Schneider offered the job @.41cpm...but I can't have a rider until after 6 months of employment. So, reluctantly, I had to turn down the job.

I understand you don't know our situation, and I appreciate your comments as a father. So let me bring you a little more up to speed here, driver. There is no one else in our lives. His mother OD'd in January and is "alive" only through use of a feeding tube. There is no consciousness to her brain. Nor will there ever be again. I don't believe that a child of 9 should be staying home by themselves for several hours a day til I get off of work. Which limits my work schedule to the daylight hours of between 7:00 am, and 4pm. The school will not allow him to be dropped off the bus without an adult there. And I'm not going to make him get himself up every morning, get himself ready for school, and walk by himself to the bus stop 1/4 mile away, to wait for the bus. (See above statement of "NO ONE ELSE IN OUR LIVES" for reference). I have no help, I have no assistance, I don't have anyone with the ability to help. With my limited hours for work, I don't make enough to move. I'm not on any type of government assistance, I pay for his meals at school, I pay for food at the house to cook, I do the cooking, cleaning, laundry, mow the grass, help him with homework, attend school functions, and still manage to find time to spend with my son fishing, hunting, playing games, etc, etc. AND...I do everything by myself. I do everything that a married couple does together, all by myself.
And yes, the food companies. They usually require you to start about 5-7am, and get off somewhere around 5-8 pm. So please, tell me more about how you think I should do this. I'm all ears, sir. -
I'm not telling you what should.. Just saying what I would do which means absolutely nothing.. Hope everything works out for you twoLast edited: Oct 8, 2015

First off, I'm very sorry to hear about your situation. And I have lots of respect for what your doing for your child. I have a very similar situation in my family and it has caused lots of ups and downs, to put it mildly. I understand your trying to support your kid and yourself, I'm 25, I went with my dad all the time when I was growing up and it was some of my best memories. It had a huge influence on me wanting to drive. There are other companies that will meet what your trying to do, while I'm with Schneider I'm not a company driver, so I can't speak on that side of the fence, but there are other driving jobs that will allow you to take your son with you, what area do you live? -
I'm in southern Oklahoma...91 driving miles southeast of OKC

Ok, and all your experience is local? You have any OTR?

OTR isn't something that changes, God I hate it When companies act like the interstates move around randomly and the cities disappear.
Plus you were still driving. It will come back to quickly. Good luckT_TRUCKER. Thanks this.
