I went there and did a interview and road test soon after I posted the comment above. Truck I drove was automatic Freightliner, and thats what Duie uses. During the interview the manager was kind in a rush to have me starting working asap, my problem was I had to relocated to near the terminal and I told him it would take some time. I don't remember much about all the interview. The pay wasn't that much, I remember something like 700.00 take home wk ( that put me off a little), u may have to do LTL if they need. But for getting ur foot on tanking w/o being OTR, and learn how to do local work is a great start. I do chemicals loads now.
good luck! -
Thanks. I talked with the Northborough terminal manager who said that new hires start by working the docks, then have a chance to get their 9-week driver training course. As an LTL operation, they do up to 20 stops per day. Overall, does not fit my need to start driving right away, preferrably locally or doing line hauls or regional with as much home time as possible. Good luck with your chemical loads!

I did Parker school over 2 years ago, Then I went OTR with Prime inc for 1 1/2 year as a Foodgrade Tanker. I could afford being away, wanted to see the country and at the time when I got my plastic I thought was the only way to get a real driving experience, and yes it was worth experience for me.
E Duie Pyle, like I said, during my interview I felt they want u to do LTL local jobs with a box trailer more than hauling tankers, I don't remember if they pay % or hourly, but wasn't much I remember.
lack of experience will make harder to put ur foot to drive a tanker, but not impossible. All depends in your determination in getting the job in a interview, plus, u need driving skills, some learn how to drive a truck properly and are fast learners, and u may be that fast learner, confident driver, safety minded and professional, but Companies require a little peace of mind when handling u a loaded truck.
I know this guy in my company, 2 months driving semi-truck experience, not tanker. He agree to drive a straight truck for 6 months, then the company will train him for a month to drive a tanker and learn how to offload chemicals, he gets the same pay as the tankers drivers and overtime, not impossible see.
Soon or later u will think about chemicals pulling tanks, if u live in MA u drink the chemicals I deliver in your water wells, LOL.
Check Craigslist, put search tank, tanker.
also, take notes in the trucks driving in the roads, check the addresses on the door if they are from Mass.
good luck!Peterbilt15 Thanks this. -

Many thanks for your reply here, very helpful. I will plan to contact Dana Transport soon as I start CDL school at Parker this month. Interesting to see that you went to Parker as well. I might be back in touch as things progress. Thanks again!
