Yes , its a ponzy scheme and they are aware of what they are doing . Typically guys like this will eventually get 3 to 5 but have pocketed enough money to get themselves reduced sentences and the cash they buried in the back yard will be there when they get out.
I wThanks for the info. -
Please help us, we too are victims of Steve Spencer. We just got our truck back on Friday and that is only because we took it for a test drive, even though there were issues, we did not want it there any longer. I read from littlebro that there are several cases of people suing him, do you know who they are using or talking to - we live in Oakland County and this has basically broken us. We are driving the truck - but only 800 miles in and the oil leaks have started, the truck will not run at operating temperature. I called Steve today, guess what, no answer, and his vm was full. But he did call us back and acted like he was calling us - "he said I was just calling to see how things were going". We told him of our problems he said oh you haven't put enough miles on it yet and you need to run it hard. Go run it hard and then come back and bring it in and I will take care of everything and put you at the front of the line. We mentioned we cannot afford anymore downtime and he said he can't afford to do it for free either but he will - cause he wants it right. My husband said - I hope you are a man of your word and he said "Oh I am". Does he really think we are bringing it back there. We have filed a complaint with the Attorney General and I am sending another one out to the Bureau of Information Security - Michigan Department of State tomorrow. But would love to get involved with these other people who are suing him, because I really don't think the other two will work - but I wanted the State to know who they are licensing.

The only way to go is getting a factory reman from the OEM. Full engine warranty and quality build. If it isn't, you have factory warranty and a shop in almost every town that honors it. Sometimes cheap is not the good option.

I wired Midwest Engine Inc. $12,260.00 on Jan 2 2015 for a reman 5.9 24v cummins for my 04 dodge. Was supposed to replace all injectors & injection pump as well. Said it would be sent out within 12 days. Told me that engine was shipped after about 6 weeks but was accidentally sent to another customer in Wisconsin. Finally got engine in mid-late March with sensors & plug missing from water jacket in head. Engine was supposedly ran for several hours before shipping, another lie. Installed engine & will not start without starting fluid & doesn't run any better that before pulling it. Also has leaking oil cooler & bad rear main seal. Steve told me to take it to cummins dealer but to have them call before any repairs are made. After reading all of the other stories on here I'm kind of leary about it. I'm leaning toward asking for my money back in full or getting a lawyer & suing. My name is Ryan Lauderdale & would be happy to talk to anyone with the same problems to see what can be done about this crook

From what I hear asking for your money back won't help but hey , give it a try.
All I can say is that there are people that are plain scum and they need to be taught a lesson.
I have just written off a $55 000-00 freight bill because it is not worth the legal effort to pursue.
The fantasy of going after them to teach them a lesson is tempting but not prudent.
In your case it may make sense.
A good knee capping is unfortunately not a good idea even though I think it is probably the only language some understand. -
Hard to believe these crooks are still business as usual for years on end ripping people off left and right.
Cetane+ Thanks this. -

Linden man faces federal charges
Fenton firm, National Diesel Engine, investigated due to repair complaints
Updated 4 months ago
Carl Steven Spencer of Linden was arraigned on federal charges Monday afternoon at the federal courthouse in Flint. The charges were the result of a Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) investigation of his Fenton business, National Diesel Engine, Inc.
Lt. Jason Slater of the Fenton Police Department said the department has received multiple complaints about the diesel engine repair facility on South Alloy Drive and when complaints came from out of state and Canada, the FBI was contacted.
Many complaints were lodged alleging the company was not making repairs as claimed. Many unhappy customers even posted their complaints on ripoffreport.com. The Better Business Bureau reported 17 complaints filed against the company.
On Monday, Fenton police took Spencer up to the courthouse for his arraignment. He was released on an unsecured $50,000 bond. His preliminary exam is scheduled for May 26. According to court records, local attorney Michael Manley is representing Spencer. -
