She accepted you before you even moved back?. Did they contact overseas employers if any?.

The reason I ask is that I currently live overseas and looking to move back early next year. I figured it would be better to wait till I got back before I started contacting companies/recruiters. Somehow I just have it in my mind that they won't be all that interested in someone who isn't even in the US yet.

I suppose it would be good to start applying before I came back as I know the company I work for now is very hard to get on the telephone and sometimes e-mail so if any prospective employers had trouble contacting them it would be easier for me to raise hell with them if I am still here.

Redtwin , I told her I have been here in Korea and wanting to move back to the states and maybe start driving a truck.
I told her I wanted too make sure all is ok because I was in the USA for 2 weeks only on vacation in 2013 and got a speeding ticket in Indiana 73 in a 55 some places wont hire with that just being 2 years old :(
Its hard giving up this tax free money but I have been over here for 10 years and thinking real serious about moving back to the States.
Where overseas are you located if you don't mind saying , are you military >

I am in the UK, have been for 12 years, not in military though. My last ticket was in 1997 or 1998 so I should be OK on that front. I just think that not living and working in the US for so long and not having easily verified W2s, driving record and employers will be a hindrance when I start job hunting. I may be worrying about nothing though especially after hearing that you got a good response from a recruiter.

I have kept my Indiana drivers license , I use my daughters address and also the airport where I keep my airplane and bike.
I sold my house a few years ago and wanted to keep an address there in Indiana.
The company I work for is in Texas and we do maintenance on military aircraft over here in Korea and I have a secret clearance so I was not worried about my background check just the speeding ticket.
You should just fill out the app and see , probably no big deal :)

I don't know how much checking they do on job reference once you arrive there but I was accepted and being I was never a cdl holder she said they only had to go back 3 years and i told her my work background was a little iffy the past year and half and she said no problem I was approved.

i did tell her i had a TWIC card and passport.

Sounds good, just hoping for all our sakes that they are actually checking and don't wait till you get there to decide you are not as good to go as they wanted us to believe.

I will be applying for a TWIC next month when I head over to reinstate my CDL. I will probably never need a TWIC, but if it shows potential employers that you have initiative and are serious about a trucking career which then gets you in with a good company, then it is $130 well spent.

It's 6-8 weeks with a trainer depending on how well you do with the trainer.
