Haters gonna hate,.. LOL. I've got a 2005 Silverado Classic that I've owned since new that I just turned 200k on the odometer when I was home last. Several times I thought about trading it in on a new model, but this truck has been so reliable for me. Knock sensors@ 60k, water pump @140k,.. thats it. Rest has been regular maintenance. Still averages 17 - 18 mpg with 12 - 14mpg pulling my car trailer. I cant bring myself to trade it in. It still looks and drives like new. Paint on the roof is starting to fade,.. I admit I often skip the roof when I wax it.
I had a 99 F150 with the 4.6, that truck could barely get out of its own way. Roasted the tranny @30k mi. Traded that truck in on a 2003 F150 with the 5.4. Better power,.. but had constant problems with the front brakes and the coil over plug ignition worked 100%, 50% of the time. 12 - 13 mpg average and 7 - 8 mpg pulling a car trailer really pushed me to look at something different. My buddy bragged about his 03 Silverado so much,.. I thought what the heck,.. next thing you know I have one in my drive way.
The older I get,.. seems the less inclined I am to buy the newest thing. Been more of a "If it aint broke,..." kind of guy the last 10 yrs or so.
Hursttruckon, tsavory and blacklabel Thank this. -
I know how you feel.
I just did a load of insulation panels that were wrapped in that very same white garbage. Tarp load to boot. So after my first dinner stop I come out and check over everything,.. Sum Botch,.. I'm cursing. The things had these thin aluminum plates sandwiched in between. Had I known,.. I would have covered the corners with my cargo blankets.
Now I'm trying to get somewhere warmer where I can do my special recipe ####tail of that rubber spray in a can,.. let it sit a few hours to get tacky and then lay Gorilla tape over it. Makes for a great quick fix while out on the road. I've got a few small holes patched I did last spring and they are still holding up great.
HurstDye Guardian and tsavory Thank this. -
