Nobody was injured in this one, but is this an example of bad trip planning or what?
Tractor-trailer breaks 3 poles, takes down wires in St. Agatha
"ST. AGATHA, Maine — A tractor-trailer hauling logging equipment that proved too tall for the road it was traveling on pulled down wires and broke three utility poles along Route 162 Thursday afternoon, according to the Maine State Police."
"The truck is owned by Mark Rafford Logging of Ashland and the incident remains under investigation by the Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Unit for potential court action. The final determination will not be made until consulting with the permit office in Augusta Friday, Haines said."
"Boutot was wearing his seatbelt and no one was injured,"

We never have this problem on the west coast...
-
Them rafford boys are rough... so is everyone in Ashland
-
Doesn't look like he was over height. Guys around here haul processors with the same kind of tractor trailer combo as that with no problems. Must have been a rural road with little to no truck traffic.
-
Well pray tell me what a seabelt either on or off had to do with this accident??

According to the self-appointed experts, seat belts cure all of society's problems. You will never be hurt or killed, and you'll never be in a wreck as long as you wear your effing seatbelt. BS. There is not a seat belt in existence that ever made anybody a better driver, or made anybody drive the way they should. I have seen several people die with them on. Concentrate on driving skills and common sense instead of making a new class of crime for everything that happens.

Man the roads there are bad. When I was a kid they were getting kinda beat up, I just went and did a Google street view drive through the town I grew up in and the road might as well be dirt now.
The truck doesn't look overheight, and it's quite possible the wires sagged a bit since the last truck was through. Everything up there is kinda swampy and poles will settle into the ground. -
The majority of people are rough in Maine. I guess you have to be in order to survive the winter and the clouds of black flies that you swear will carry you away.
I think every road in Maine is rough. Don't forget, the ground freezes every winter and when spring comes everything starts to sink into the ground, then add in all the melting snow and now you have "mud season". That is why the polls are leaning in every direction on the compass and why the roads get so bad. MDOT doesn't really believe in road maintenance either. -
It's just a rough place. Made sense though. WA is nuts-

13.5 is 13.5, if he's over that it's the drivers problem... 3 poles is excessive though I'd have stoped after the first one. It was a hot day today and I clipped a wire that I normaly get under, when they heat up they do stretch. Just somthing to remember.
