Do you have to stop at weigh stations while bobtailing???

I mean, there is nothing to weigh, but the signs say ALL commercial vehicles.

Yes. You don't have to roll over the scale per se, but yes you must enter.

In you saw the signs saying ALL commercial vehicles must enter, but felt that was somehow unclear and requires some expert testimony?

    Seriously?!

I went by none. I would have gone in anyway if I was unsure but they are mostly always closed on the east coast where I drive.....

But one day there will be one open and I will be bobtail I'm sure...

As a general rule you must enter if bobtailing. However some states at least at one time had enter if above a weight listed, I think at one time Illinois did this. I remember a day in Arkansas coming up from Dallas bobtail and I entered the Hope scale. The weigh master was checking logbooks. I drove up with a big grin and the guy pointed behind me and laughed. He said hey driver you forgot something. We both were laughing he just waved me through.

I went on a trip with my dad to Iowa. His codriver had a farm in Winterset. My dad delivered the load, and I stayed at the farm. He took us into town, Des Moines, by pick up and we had to go over the scales at Van Meter. Ah, the 70s, riding in the back of a pick up on the freeway. You youngsters don't know what you've missed!
