    I created this thread:

    http://www.thetruckersreport.com/truckingindustryforum/threads/body-cams-for-drivers.297736/

I know ( from experience LOL ) that car haulers have the 'occasional' problem with the DOT. Mostly because the DOT officers don't know their own rules, and when their eyes start to glaze over, they replace they're lack of education with attitude. Either way, the driver usually pays the price. Have a look at the above thread and let me know what you think. Tks

Just wondering why do the car haulers have occasional run in's w/ DOT???

Forgive my ignorance, I'm just a wannabe car hauler in the research stage, but I have noticed that car haulers are pulled over by cops way more than any other trucks?

I currently drive for Swift on a dedicated store account and have a camera pointing right at me, recording 24/7. I suppose it would come in handy in some DOT inspection cases.

    Pullin2 Thanks this.

Nothing ignorant about that question. Usually it's too much weight on the steers, or too much overhang front or back. Some guys fudge their paper AND E-Logs and don't show enough on duty time for loading and unloading. Etc Etc. Pretty much EVERY state and EVERY province have different rules about the dimensions. My last permit book read like War And Peace !!

Unless dot is watching u unload or load, how can he fine u for not enough time on logs for unloading. There's no rule saying u have to log a minimum of this time, if log 5 or 10 minutes I doubt he's gna ask for a demonstration

That's what we all thought .... and argued the point at the scale on numerous occasions ..... so 6 DOT guys in 2 Chargers and 2 F-150's .... all marked units for effect ..... showed up at the rail head and videotaped us for hours ..... loads, loading, truck numbers, carriers ..... etc etc ..... they never came in. They just video taped us from the street, thru the fence, which is a public street.

Ouch at the scale for awhile. Credit - they did a good job of making their point.
