So looking to get into the trucking industry since the oil field has tanked... is driving for Choice even an option for someone who lives on the MS coast? The school here I am looking to attend has a ´placement´ program and Schneider is one of the outfits that hire from my school... get my CDL then 6 months OTR with Schneider then lease with Choice. I have about 25k in savings on the business side and 25k savings on the family money side... I posted my own thread and got bashed royally for even considering leaving my current job before they lay us off in the near furture.
I have been reading through all these posts and the posts made by DFU and although I see that it will be an uphill battle, I have drive and willingness to learn and desire to succeed...
    Opinions are welcome
thanks for all the good info you guys!

Personally if it were me when you are ready to come to Choice I would shop around and bring my own truck to Choice as opposed to leasing from Schneider. You have enough stocked away to put a decent down payment and have a lower monthly payment and it's nicer to just have to write a check once a month as opposed to having that money come out of a weekly settlement.

Lol some of the folks were a little rough... I realize that my CURRENT salary is pretty high... but we could all get that phone call in the next 5 minutes. The company is really going down hill... ive been reading all these forum posts, most people say to stay away from the leases, but im kinda leery of dropping 10-15k on a 2005 or newer truck so that I can drive for choice. Any of those trucks will be well outside of any kind of warranty at all.
out here on the rig we have C15s that run our cranes and Cat 3516's for our main engines... I have seen what goes into the PMs on those things... seen the bills.. ouch. Just doing as much DD as I can before stepping off into the deep end.

You have any idea how BIG an offshore drilling rig is? lol
and my shop... of course my shop sits above the drillers cabin on the other side of the rig and up 10000000 stairs from the closest toilet... but that's why we have buckets and water hahahaha
