On a ride with a friend in southern CAL, I helped move 2500# of rebar to balance out a load because HE didn't scale it! The next load we picked up, I asked him, Are WE going to scale it? He smiled and said, You bet.
So, that's very good advice, even from a newbie like me. -

I am probably one of the most secure women you would ever meet. I have this winning personality you see *grins*
And I am still going to try. I may let J go first this fall and work on "things" and try in the spring.

As to the question if I live in my truck, well...it depends on how you look at it. I use to get home once a month for 3 days, when I was full over the road. Now I am on an Eastern US regional, mostly North East.
I get home about once every week or two when on my normal run, the last few months though I have been sent to Chicago allot, and not home much.
I am in Maderia Beach FL at the moment, on vacation.
That P&G load they mentioned is a pickup a little North East of Baltimore. We carry at least to 2 locations I know of from there, though I hate to put too much info on here about load location and delivery location, on any load, on a forum. We bring at least 1 load a week from there to Upstate NY, and one to Nevada.
On scaling those loads. I will always scale a load over 36,000, unless when I look thru the back hatch or door, I see it is loaded front to back on the truck, and on the bills it is basically the same product, front to back.
Always look at the load though, if possible. If not you can put the axles forward 2 holes past 40, if it bounces some, then move them back till you have good resistance. This will usually balance you enough to make it legal, till you can scale it.
I have to go from Bethlehem PA over to Jersey at times before I can scale. So I have to balance out a 41,000 lb load before I hit the Jersey scale house, the first place I can scale the load is at the next exit. I was over last time, but only 120 lbs, so they let me go. It takes a while but you can get a good feel for the loads.
Anyway, time to head to the beach. Have a good week.dbook Thanks this. -
