I am currently looking at Boyd Brothers or Melton. Anyone with personal training exp from either companies would be great.

I've heard Melton has a good training program. Also heard they have driver facing cameras. Not sure I could handle something like that. Nothing to hide... just knowing its on would bother me. I have a habit of pulling off on exit ramps late at night and peeing off my step. I'd be like... "Here ya go.. you wanna see something? Look at this... yeah.. thats a nice one isnt it? Bet you wanna touch it dont you?"

I'd be so fired if I worked for a company like that.

I dont know anything about Boyd. In fact.. it wasnt until 4 or 5 months ago that first saw a Boyd truck pulling a deck. Seems they are all getting into it.

I'd start with the Melton section on these forums, could give you some good information from actual drivers.

Boyd has a sign-on bonus, even for student drivers, which I thought was pretty interesting. I think the pay and hometown between the two is about the same, both will want you to stay out 2-3 weeks at a time depending on where you live.

I was a big fan of Melton until they put driver facing cameras in the trucks. At least they have APU's though.
Have you looked at Waggoners Trucking Co.?

The camera doesn't bother me, it's there short term and it only records harsh movement like emergency braking or swerving.

Don't know much about Melton other than we have some drivers from there working here now. Boyd is one of our companies and seem to do a pretty good job of retaining drivers. Again, no personal experience with either.

I have a pal at Boyd currently in training, so I know the pros and cons of training there, but I have nothing current on Melton.

The instructor at Boyd is a guy considered a drill instructor, they do a urine dot test, the hotel you stay at is pretty nasty.. But nothing current on Melton.

No matter where you go they're going to do a drug test so not sure what you meant by that but as far as hotels go, remember it's not a company paid vacation. Sure it would be nice to stay in a nice hotel but consider the number of recruits a training company brings in, how many only last a few days/weeks and what they spend on lodging. Once you get a few years of experience and can move on to a better company the lodging improves and transportation to and from is usually airlines not Greyhound.

Another option if you don't like their hotel is get your own and a rental car to get to and from training each day.
