Could the higher viscosity be caused by the Lucas?

I suppose. Lucas is nothing more than a 180w base oil. Still have never figured out why anyone would use it. Just the name makes me question... Lucas Oil Stabilizer. I have not had anyone be able to show me what is unstable about modern engine oils that they need Forrest Lucas to come along and "stabilize" them. Either way, you motor was designed for a particular viscosity range. You start messing with that, and you might end up with more trouble than you think you might be preventing. Part of any lubrication is boundary lubrication. And if the oil is too thick or thin to provide adequate boundary lubrication, then wear increases. Save your money and forget the Lucas. It is a solution to a problem that doesn't exist.

^^^ Agreed. Lucas trully is modern day snake oil. Amazing how few really know what the product actually is.
I find it hilarious that it actually lowers the TBN of your oil yet is marketed as a stabilizer!! Hahaha!!!

Given that it's just a heavy base oil, Lucas is making a killer profit off of ignorant consumers.

Yeah, LOS is where they really make their profits. Now, too be fair here, Lucas does make some other very good products. The LOS may be snake oil, but I cannot say that of some of their other stuff. I don't use any of it, but I have to be fair.

They make a really good grease, it doesn't fling like most others do from u-joints, etc.

The Schaeffer grease is what first drew me to Schaeffer stuff. Similar, it doesn't fling around, has a very high moly content, uses an aluminum base instead of lithium base like many others, and I have had fewer issues since moving to it. That got me on their motor oil soon after.
