sorry if i offended you with my reply as you are correct in that this is an open
forum where one can post both the positive and the negative sides of this business in hopes of providing drivers with useful info. i do not disagree with what you posted but just thought we ought to let highirish bask in his glory alittle longer. btw its good to hear that you have found success with another company.

I experienced a big dose of this at the Columbus yard a month ago..shrugged it off and kept on trucking. I fully expect Crete to have its problems..being stationed out of the Indy terminal..have had one issue getting time off myself, but all in all I am a proud Crete driver. Thanks for the heads up.

Good for you highirish--if you are out of Indy, you've got a darn good FM--she will stand up for you. Haze1, thanks for the kind words. I do remember, and still often meet very nice Crete/Shaffer/Hunt drivers out there..when I drove for Crete we'd always wave at each other driving down the highway...you don't see that very often with the other large carriers.

When I drove for Schneider we used to wave at each other until noon.
After that, we had to give our arms a much needed rest. :biggrin_25525: :biggrin_25523:

No joke there. Most of the Roehl drivers will wave, IF they're paying any attention.

in my unlimited 3 weeks of experience, I kept tallies. Only two companies never waved back:

    Federal Express
    WalMart

They never gave me a thank-you flash when I flashed my lights to let them over, either.

On the other hand, the one company that - hands down, if you'll forgive me - was the most polite out there, returned almost all my waves and flashes, was CR England.

    Food for thought, I think

I've been driving for 2 years now and Crete said I would start at 39 cents a mile, sound right?

hello tucker, i believe that is the new starting rate for the National fleet. went down from .41cpm. pretty sure i also read it on Crete's website. maybe possible too that they are starting you with that rate for your experience.
    goodluck and welcome aboard.

I started with Swift then US Xpress and then Knight and after 5 years Ive been with CRETE... There is know comparison!!!! Crete is by far the best company to drive for as a solo company driver! The only complaint I have with Crete is hometime if you need a specific day off..?? sometimes its tough depending on where you live. Otherwise, you will make good money driving for CRETE as a National driver. Good Luck and DRIVE SAFE!
