Get some muscle milk its way better than slim fast crap and it doesnt need to be cold or hot. Just get a shaker cup and a big jug of muscle milk two scoops to a 16oz cup of water and your good for several hours. You can eat muscle milk three times a day and you will #### like a rabbit and not even have to wipe ur ###. Its also a really good diet as your getting tons of protein and vitamins and will burn a ton of fat so you dont get trucker butt crack.
How do you keep your food cold otr?

I use them and mine 1-1 1/2 yrs usually. cheaper than ice when you use the point at your favorite T/S. -

I think the point was... if he COULD he would... he can't and he needs an option. He's probably stuck in training making s*** for pay and his trainer stops for super size waffle house meals for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. All he wants is a small option to keep fold cold. I don't see what the problem is.
Especially considering once training is over you're never going to see this guy again. Who cares what he thinks. Be respectful but explain you don't have the cash to be eating out and see if he minds. The worst thing that will happen is he'll tell you no. As long as you're being mature in training and a decent driver, who cares. Get through training, live your life.
My reccommendation is a large insulated lunchbox. Get some extra ice when you refill a pop and keep it in a plastic baggie. Can keep lunchmeat cold or other smaller items. Good luck. PB&J gets old after a while, but training doesn't last forever! And good for you for not stuffing your face with burgers and hot dogs at every stop.Last edited: Nov 1, 2015

Actually there is no mention of his financial status. This trainer/trainee relationship is not like a team operation. The trainer is in 100% charge of the truck what goes in it and how its driven. As a trainee you should never bring anything other then the basic things until its been cleared by the trainer. That's why my recommendation was and still is talk to the trainer first.

I'm guessing you work for Schneider. They don't give a #### about the comfort of their drivers. Ignore the people on here telling you not to worry about "customizing" a truck. Give me a break! Sweetheart you find a trucking company not called Schneider....they will rip you off blind by cheating you on your mileage and by you spending your days chasing down empty trailers most of the day. You don't get paid for it. They tell you that you get $15 per...but they dont. Same with paying for tolls etc out of pocket. If babysitting your pay settlement sounds fun. Stay. About that cooler. Go to any Love's or Pilot and buy a 12v Coleman cooler to help save yourself some money. Some of these "seasoned" truck drivers are know it all's when it comes to helping out a newbie. Good luck

Sure there is.. Post # 3 he says plain as day "money is tight"
But I agree, talk to your trainer first.. His house, his rules -
I went through a period from Oct 2010 until I received an insurance settlement from my mothers death when my money was very very tight. In fact if not for a loan from a friend I would not have made it. I also started with a trainer in late Nov. I called him and we discussed this. He came by in his POV and took me to Walmart and I bought enough food to last me a week. Nothing had to be chilled and I kept my food in my bunk with my suitcase. I did this for two weeks till I got my first paycheck. Larry was a great trainer who bent over backward to help me. He paid for several meals while I was on his truck. My point is most trainers I've met are nice guys that will help you survive if you are in a bad situation. Just talk to them.
