05' Mack, 79,000 gross at about 72 MPH heading across I-80 into Nebraska from Iowa last night.

These Macks really get great mileage after you get'em broke in a little and weaned off the juice.

Nice try, 29mpg 3 seconds into the trip, with the arrow pointing way down meaning its dropping, we are not that naive.

    Good one though ;)

Dont you wish this could be true. If it was i would drive the mack on vacation and even to the grocery store. 29.6 thats better than my pickup by at least 15 mpg. but if you could reset the computer and take a picture after 1 second i bet you would have even better fuel milaege.

I've been resetting my computer on different routes to see what the MPG's are like.

More hills and stop and go traffic (non interstate) I average about 5.5 which really isn't bad if you knew the road I was talking about, cow trail in minnesota with a stop light at the bottom of every grade.

    my monthly average... 6.2mpg

one run... 6.5mpg and its mostly flat.

I reset my computer in the photo on what I thought was flat ground...

this is actually the low figure... it went all the way to 37mpg but the pic didn't turn out... long sloping down grade I suppose.

the little arrow down thingy... is always there... (more info scroll down)

comp will give mpg, avg speed, high speed (76), time idling, pto time, amount of time over rpm, and the big bell (minutes over 80 mph)...

I imagine a siren goes off and the ceo and safety director flying outta bed... lol

Been thinking about my own rig and prices do seem to be nosing over...

but...???? I dunno... I'm burning $500 a day in fuel right now... and not having to pay for it... near as I can figure, the fuel surcharge will still leave $200 out of my pocket and it just doesn't quite add up yet.

I want my rig and a pay raise... hehehe

I had some good mpg's going my first week with the company but I was always running late... guy told me to throw the brick on the floor... so I do...

I'm doing liquid tank and am always 79k on the way out... it takes forever to get up to speed and on a lot of runs you're slowing back down for the next pop 200 town before you even hit the limit.

and... yeah I'm empty on the way home... but that just really doesn't make up for all of it, like ya might think.

I hate macks... I drove an 06 at my last company for a week and then claimed the the oo' freightliner classic as my ride. big kitty ran harder and got better mileage than the shift at 1850 mack.

ohhh well... maybe next year I'll have my own ride... "if I can afford it":biggrin_2554:

The very first truck I drove for Schneider got 7.4 a few times.. I would fill up and run that truck no less then 1250 miles, and several times I could get over 1400-1500 before I would stop and fuel, not always of coarse..(idle time also would play a factor but i idle very little anyways) The average was around 6.8.. Truck had over 600,000 on it so it was well broke in (always helps on fuel mileage).. That was the best fuel mileage truck that I have personally drove... the truck was a 63 Mph truck, when I switched to a newer truck that went 65 Mph the days of 1500 miles I never saw again (till I drove trucks with 300 gallon max) So, I can believe people getting 7-7.5 but you start getting over that I am very skeptical... If you did 55 Mph all the time I guess I could see 8 Mpg but a few have claimed 10 + and I personally just don't believe that without real proof.... (posssible M/T with 30-40 Mph winds pushing you across NE)

I have had a few people not believe me about that first truck I drove.. Don't blame them because they probably never personally experienced something like that, just as I would find it unbielivable somebody would get over 8 (and again that person would be driving 55Mph everywhere he went).... I personally drove 55Mph for several weeks in a row when I was with Perkins trying to make money with them (long story, want to know read about it.. its on the forum) and I never once seen 8 with that truck.. Best I could get out of it was around 6.8 at 55 Mph .....

I worked at transport america and did the 6.8-7.2 back and forth...

freightliner, mercedes, flat ground and a light load...

now... mack, wind it up tight, hills and loaded then empty. 6.0 is as good as it gets running 70...

I guess I could slow down... and leave earlier???

    :biggrin_25526:

    yeah right ??? lmao...
