I totally agree...TTR is incredibly helpful. We started researching planning to do hotshot trucking...now we are going to team for all we have read.

Thanks for your advice, Gas Hauler...we definitely have a lot of decisions to make. I like the idea of specializing...later...not radioactive though. Lol. At this point we want to go cross country prob in a van or reefer until we get comfortable handling that. And fyi...our school doesn't get kickbacks from recuiters and I always ask them a ton of questions I've picked up from here. Thanks again!

Just be careful on who you trust completely. I would think running into a team that's doing the same thing you want would give you the best advice. And even then I believe until you hear more than just one answer on the same subject can you trust that information.

I can remember sitting in the shop at the 76 right out of Salt Lake City and talking with a wife of this one fancy truck. She was up there filling out the paperwork and telling me the plus side of running with her husband. as long as there's no one at home she said they'd stay out forever making the money. Taking notes and being knowledgeable on everything they are going was a must. The school and/or recruiters might know a little but the people that are doing it are priceless. I was dressed in coveralls with U.S. Navy placed appropriately for all to see (it helped at the scale house) sitting in a rented Ryder tractor pulling a Navy 60ton drop deck loaded up with a specialized D8 Cat. She looked at my load and I said "yeah I'm putting Mr. Ryder's equipment through it's paces". It sure did look like there were making the bucks. Anyway my 2¢.

Find a dry van outfit. Reefer sucks.

Reefer can't be that bad. More miles I would think.

    Does anyone prefer refer?

All I ever hear is how bad it is, lots of waiting and night driving.

Alot of rush-rush with reefer too due to perishable goods.

I had my reefer break one time at 2:30am my dispatcher had me looking for a thermoking. What a mess that was. And they really dont make any more than dry van.

    DTP Thanks this.
