As long as pot is illegal on the federal level, anyone operating a cmv will not be able to have it in their system regardless what state they live in. And i strongly believe that no one should be driving high on ANYTHING. But, im for making it legal for anyone that wants to smoke it on their own time.
Marijuana is one of the safest substances out there. This is FACT. The only thing dangerous about marijuana are marijuana laws.Canned Spam, Luke628 and walstib Thank this. -
I agree. You shouldn't operate a motor vehicle under the influence of any drugs. It can effect other people. But what you do on your home time...that is your time.Tonythetruckerdude and Luke628 Thank this.

I learned this many moons ago. I just stay away from them and dismiss them. The Patriot Thanks this.

The psychoactive metabolite.....or the one that gets you high leaves your system after a few hours, or when you sober up. The metabolite they test for isnt psychoactive but stays in your system for a long time. Thats why they test for it. If marijuana was legal, drug tests would just test for the psycoactive metabolite.TheJrodTest Thanks this.

Mad? Lol
I and many others(why you think this industry is any different from any other is laughable) smoke(d) every day out there. You also have alcoholics and pill heads like every other profession including lawyers, doctors and pilots(I'm also a commercial pilot). You think drug testing works? Lolol
The holier than thou view is cute, but doesn't reflect reality and how it is out there. Heck, dot/customs north of Laredo found weed in my truck and did NOTHING, just let me go, didn't even tell my company. They KNOW it's not the problem out there, texting is way more deadly!Luke628 Thanks this. -
And if Mr Patriot found a half empty bottle of rum in the truck, none of you guys would have given him grief.
" Oh, good work, Mr Patriot! You shut down an evil drunk!"
This whole thread is because you guys jump up to defend weed. And you were wrong to do so. And the thing about what a person does in his own home does not count. If it was for his use at home, why was it in the truck?
"He was just transporting...."
Transporting what? Guns? Cigarettes? Illegals? Sex slaves? Booze? Weed.
In a commercial vehicle? In places where weed is legal, is it legal to transport your personal stash in a commercial vehicle?
You burnouts are the ones with the holier than thou attitudes. But you have no grounds for an argument. And so you get upset.
Mr Patriot made the right call. You all owe him an apology.Tonythetruckerdude Thanks this. -
this is the way I see it. " I HAVE BETTER THINGS TO SPEND MY $$$$$$$ ON THAN SOME WORTHLESS PLANT!" IF I CATCH SOME ONE USING WEED OR ANY OTHER MIND ALTERING SUBSTANCE THAT WORKS FOR ME. HE IS FIRED ON THE SPOT. END OF QUOTE!
Tonythetruckerdude and TripleSix Thank this. -
You Are surrounded every day by truckers high on pot, Denying the reality won't change that. I carried it and smoked it every day in the truck and like I said DOT even found it in my truck and did nothing because, unlike you, they know it's not a problem. So you can thank DOT for my holier than thou attitude they told me it's OK.Prof.Gringo Thanks this.

You want to smoke pot then smoke it. It's on you. Your decision. But you're in a safety sensitive job as a commercial driver, and you're beholden to the laws and regulations of the green book. You don't get to decide otherwise. And that's where the "problem" lies.
I don't have a problem with marijuana. I don't smoke it, but I don't have a problem with people who do. THC has many proven benefits to it. Until they come up with a way to test you for immediate use, trucking and weed do not and will not mix. And that's where we currently stand, and there is no other answer to the question. If you are going to drive a commercial truck for a living you cannot have THC in your system at all and you are subject to drug testing. That's that.Gereke and Tonythetruckerdude Thank this.
