i am sure there is a segment of the population with sleep apnea
i am sure there is a segment of the population with ADHD
do I believe baseball players have twice as much ADHD as the general public
do i believe truck drivers have twice as much sleep apnea as the general public

When I was a solo otr many many years ago, I had a bucket. But now that I tram drive, we just don't have the space. I have looked at those shewee things. Might have to get one.

I'm probably guilty of making light of something that is very important for those that need it. It's a shame that the makers of those devices, and health care "professionals" that make a nice living prescribing them, have created a captive market using the armed force of government.
Spending 3 days idle at a truck stop in Forest, MS. is not going to make Villy more rested and safe. I'm with @Cranky Yankee and would probably be contributing to the punkin's driver shortage over some bs like that.MACK E-6, sshewins, chopper103in and 6 others Thank this. -
before I had weight loss surgery I had to have a sleep apnea test
well duh i was 150 lbs overweight of course i couldnt breathe right
made no sense to me to do the test before I lost weight
I never hear of people having the test and finding out they dont have sleep apneachopper103in, HeWhoMustNotBeNamed, Straight Stacks and 2 others Thank this. -
It's s double edge sword because it is a very real problem. But of course this industry has found a way to capitalize and profit off it....making many drivers skeptical that ur is a real problem. The machine has personally saved my life but missing 3 days of use several weeks ago dosent make one dangerous TODAY.chopper103in, HeWhoMustNotBeNamed, drdesl and 5 others Thank this.

It's not 30 days. If it were 30 days I'd be running right now.
...it's 90 or whatever they didn't pull from you last.
I called BS on it being longer than 30...but SNI isn't budging.
What they don't realize...is this isn't a 3 day shut down. I have 3 days to do interviews.
Also...just as a side note, I've got software that reads the input on the data card.
The thing ISNT smart enough to know if a human is hooked up to it. All it's capable of doing is registering pressure changes, recording and reacting.
The caveat is using something which can replicate the patterns of human breath to fool both the machine, and the tech.
Do you have a machine? And who stated it was 30 days?
It's not a lack of use that's the issue, and I don't always drive at night.
Back a couple months ago, and I've had a son of a ##### of a time getting used to the thing, I was pulling it off in my sleep.
Usually before I had 4 hours time logged on it.
The fact that I didn't use it at all when I was sick was what pushed me over the edge of compliance.
Cpap therapy really isn't something to thumb your nose at...but I'm guilty of making light of it just the same.
It has helped quite a few folks, and since (ironically) it helps my fiancée sleep when I use it, I'm willing to give it a serious go. (Which I've been doing anyways.)
You're right in that someone found a way to make money off a group that can't fight back though...
(Can't, or won't fight back is a discussion for another topic.)Rocks, cbholister, HeWhoMustNotBeNamed and 4 others Thank this.
