I bought a 5' today and seems pretty good so far. What readings should I get across the board to optimize it. I think so far I may like this better than my predator and a couple more I tried.
Ok tell me about how top set up a skip shooter correctly

If you are talking about SWR; A 1.5:1 readout is just fine, lower is better theoretically, anything under 2:1 is tolerable.

Had the 7" skipshooters and from my experience the skip...was kind of avg compare to my predator.

That 7' Skip Shooter used to win all the key down competitions......even over the steel whip! I forget all the technical reasons why. If you are ever in W. Memphis, stop and ask Ray to tell you all about it.

Swr isn't everything, have someone with the right equipment test out the system, antenna analyzer would be a good start.
rabbiporkchop Thanks this. -
True, but if that's out of whack it's useless to continue on. Plus, most of us driving company trucks just need the system to not damage the radio. Most don't talk to anybody they can't see anymore anyway.darthanubis Thanks this.

I do not doubt they are good antennas...but don't know why they were avg to me.
Maybe with the truck that i had back then the set up wasn't optimal?
