Southeast is having a lot of turn over for some reason. They mostly haul steel. Also have heard the miles are not there either. Decker likes the short loads because they pay better, but hurts the drivers

 

Yes I understand that. But here's a better example. For the past 6 months I've been running freight off of the load boards at 75 percent. And on a good majority of the loads time you subtract the 25 percent and the fuel it brings you down lower than a company driver straight out of school. My last week. I took home before taxes after cost .24 cpm. Even the brokers are telling me it's the worst rates they have seen in years. That's why freight rates and miles are low on everyone just about. The guys with dedicated routes are the only ones not taking to much of a hit.

Also for some reason this year there has been no boost in freight like previous years for the holidays. I guess economist do not expect as much spending. But either way it's hurting everyone.

 

Yeah the turnover is high everywhere ppl are searching for the golden child of trucking companies but it doesn't exist lol. And especially right now. Rates are very low. Anyway what's orientation like.

 

Also when rates are this low the only way to survive is short runs. They tend to pay more. When rates are good then the demographics change. But rates won't change prob until after the election

 

What else do you guys haul? Just steel? The company in with I honestly don't see any slow down I'm still making the same abs still getting the same miles a week maybe a little more of them

I'm out longer for the holidays by choice but my fleet Is 2 weeks out OTR fleet Is 3 weeks out
