    Ya ,I agree completely.
As an owner op I do what I can but I don't let the truck stay down and out of service just to save a few dollars. The guys that I use, that have the right tools, do a great job and probably don't charge enough to do it. I'm glad about that but like you say it doesn't make sense to purchase all the tools necessary to do a job like a clutch or transmission once every 5-10 years. It's just not cost effective. I'm a very good electrical and electronics trouble shooter (have an associate degree in analog and digital electronics and worked many years with PLC's and control circuitry) so I can do all of that stuff myself. I enjoy helping others too. The problem that I run into there is finding a set of prints for the job but so far I've been able to do it. Being able to do that puts me ahead of the curve most of the time. I've been trouble shooting the air system on my old truck and have replaced two quick release valves that were old and leaking. I can't just replace stuff though. I have to understand why it it's used and how it works in the circuit. I find that I when I do that it remains with me. It's like a schematic in my head. I can just see it. Weird huh? I wonder if the any of the real mechanics here see it like that. For me that comes from years of trouble shooting electrical machinery where I had studied the schematics so many times I could just see them in my head. I really appreciate the help here and hope that I can return the favor some time in my field of expertise.

I got it done yesterday. The new radiator was purchased from a Freightliner dealer and was the cheapest I could find at 600 dollars. It fit perfectly too. Thanks so much for the help guys. It runs great now (doesn't leak) and builds about 3 more lbs of boost now than it did for some odd reason. I'll bet it pulls great. The air clutch soft parts kit I put in the clutch worked too. No more air clutch air leak. Now I hear a small leak on top of the transmission. I hate these push on air fittings.
