Most of these 1099 companies know they can get over on some drivers simply because nobody else would consider given them a chance because of their records

Being a 1099 employee is good because you get your whole check and dont have to pay tax

Actually, you pay even more taxes. You will pay all of your social security
tax; under a withholding plan you only pay half.

I went through this several times in my life. The first year or so it seamed
great. Than my tax bill came.

As a company driver it is a really bad idea. As an O/O, leased to a company,
If you keep good records, if you keep your quarterly taxes paid, it can
work. Seldom does but a 1099 can work.

I agree 100%. If a company is offering a 1099 that is a huge red flag. If they
are so new, or so small they don't offer a real withholding plan, they
are a bad idea. About the only exception I have ever seen is sometimes
a well established company will hire one truck to deliver a special
product just for them. Maybe a special trailer is involved. They want
to concentrate on manufacturing and are willing to pay a really good
wage to the driver so they don't don't have to keep up with the
    trucking side of the coin.

The only good thing about a jerk like this is that when he stubs his tow and tries to get disability at age 32, AND HE WILL, he won't have enough credits with SS if he hasn't been paying.
