Go to fmcsa website. It has the log book rules under hours of service.

Download a free trial copy of drivers daily log and do some sample logging to check it out.

You will be awarded your 1 to 2 points. They gave me points for going over my 14 by 15 minutes, because the shipper delayed me and would not allow me to stay on their property. Logged those 15 minutes as a safe haven, but still recieved points. They will audit you for the next two to three months, so this will give you a chance to get 2 positive points with each audit, as long as you log it as it happens.
