I'm getting ready for orientation and then the 6 week training with Swift. Orientation states to bring 6 days worth of clothing. Do we stop to wash our clothes every 6 days or something? Sorry for the ignorance. I don't want to pack too much, but DEFINITELY don't want to not pack enough.

The hotel you stay at should have laundry. Just make sure to bring your own detergent....sometimes you have to wear the same clothes couple days in a row too.

always bring MORE than what they say. pack for 12-16 days worth. you will get the chance to do laundry at a truck stop, just stay with your wash as you do.

bring small containers of soap, softer if you want.

Unless you are abnormally sweaty and smelly you should be able to make a shower and clean clothes last for 2 days. I've been doing it for 30+ years, with some exceptions

I don't honestly know that much about Swift, by choice most likely, but it seems like you'd be able to do your laundry free at the Swift terminals

You deffinately dont want to over pack because your trainer has limited space in his trk.A weeks worth of clothing sounds about right .you'll need to wear your clothes a couple days ,longer if they're not that dirty.

I would suggest at least 8 days worth, especially with winter coming up, since you could easily end up in soggy clothes. Swift allows you to do laundry free at the terminals, but other than that you're footing the bill if you do laundry at a truck stop and it could be a week or more before you get to a terminal in some instances.

I would also suggest a pair of coveralls (insulated or not, your choice) in case you end up in the snow or ice throwing chains because your mentor doesn't want to do it and it also keeps your clothes from getting overly dirty when doing a thorough PTI. Winter gloves and a beanie or other type of head covering might be a good idea as well.
