That was a pipe to keep trucks from parking in the lot behind the truck stop down in catulla tx. Im still trying to figure out how fast he was going when he hit it cause the marks start about 15 ft from where the hole is

You'll get little to no credit for anything you did or thought you knew before getting your CDL. After that everything you do can and will be held against you. Examples: pissing outside $400, safely driving past a scale house $250, and many more. Hey buddy didn't you see that sign ten miles back?, well you can get out and read it now, it's stuck in your tandems.

for you to be scared of a 4 wheeler, one perhaps that YOU DO DRIVE, then to call a truck, a MONSTER RIG, you have no respect for us and our lively hood.
these are not MONSTER RIGS, but work horses that help us earn our money. an accident can happen at any time, if YOU are not careful as to what YOU are doing.
if you feel this way now, then get out and stay out, till you show us respect for what we do out here, getting YOUR stuff to the stores.BuckeyeKev and lagbrosdetmi Thank this. -
Far more dangerous being in a truck than a car I promise. There's 50k lbs of freight behind you just waiting to make you look like the bugs on your windshield. Even more fun if that freight moves (liquid). Driving the car feels like a trip to the go-karts in comparison. Are there dangers? Yes traveling the highways CAN be but that doesn't mean it HAS to be. Good professional driving courses are critical. And with that act as a professional and you will be fine.
As for the particular question "OTR inexperience on a car", what kind of job are you applying for? Are we talking Trucking job or sales rep or something of that nature? I'm not sure how the car fits into this particular question. If it's a job where you will be driving a Class C vehicle, I'm sure they will be looking for some kind of experience. If it's class A you can make 100 cross country trips in the family sedan but it still = 0 in the eyes of a company and start from the beginning.. -
OP, like the optimism. You are sure something bad will happen. With the fear that you have, you do not need to be behind the wheel of a truck.

Isn't that the truth lol
I have to be careful going home from the yard to not drive too slow. Sitting so close to the ground after being in the truck all week 50mph feels like 90 in a little Honda Accord.CasanovaCruiser, Nighthawk325 and Bob Dobalina Thank this. -
I doubt my daycab would be considered a monster rig. I'm feelin a little inadequate over here.

Totally agree... Rather new to the industry here but it was interesting having to drive my little Dodge Caliber home five hours after being in my trainers truck for 3-4 weeks... So low, felt so fast and the mirrors... Soooo small... lol ... And having to turn ones head to check the blind spot vs having seven mirrors available to you... I suddenly felt very claustrophobic by comparison.
I love the replies this OP is getting. A perfect way to start the day... With a smile on my face.

The wife laughs at me when we go somewhere and I catch myself setting up to back into a spot......in the car at the grocery store lol
After you do it awhile you'll catch yourself doing silly stuff like that out of habit.pattyj Thanks this.
