Yeah, I don't really. New to this! I see how people are about new truckers on Facebook threads all the time lol. That's why I wanted to try a different resource.
-
what?? I wasn't being sarcastic so if you could let me know what was sarcastic so I can correct it.. I actually have looked at A&R so I am kinda lost.. Please let me know cause I was trying to help and not trying to be sarcastic.
-
Thanks for this. $1.30 still seems low but I'll keep searching.
-
I am not being sarcastic and please do not take it that way. I am trying to help. I have spent months researching the trucking industry as I am going to be joining it soon. I was really offering the information that i have gathered over the months in an effort to help. so if anyone can tell me what about my post was sarcastic or taken that way I will gladly correct it. I am SORRY miss but I am truly trying to help you and your husband.LucyGoose Thanks this.

@big pappax I expect what @TaylorMade407 meant by sarcasm is that you're recommending places having no actual experience dealing with them. Your "research" has you thinking your know what you're offering, when you're really just regurgitating industry slush that gets pushed by industry branded media.
No offense to you intended, you don't know what you don't know.
There is more to know about this industry than most people could absorb in a lifetime. -
A rule of thumb. Any company that is willing to pay a set rate for your miles.
They are short changing you.
It cost me over $1 just to run the truck down the road empty or loaded.LucyGoose Thanks this. -
A zillion. Not even close.
I have recently did some research. They recently upped the bond from 10k to 75k.
They went from ~4500 brokers to now only ~1300 brokers.
A law I heard was in the works. If you don't have trucks. You can't accept freight.
They want to cut brokers out.
But that's phone talk from me and an agent.
Fine by me if it happens but it could hurt the small companies. -
Like what @Ruthless was saying any company offering a set mileage rate is a recipe for disaster. The OP already noted that 1.30 is low but in actuality it's insulting. If you're checking them out by all mean go ahead but from me to you, there are a lot of percentage companies who has freight well above 1.30 per mile. If her husband doesn't wanna learn dispatch himself and learn freight lanes then he might be in trouble but if he does and has the right attitude then he may do well for himself and actually better than the ups deal he had give or take. But please do not recommend any one else a mileage deal because like I said it's insulting.LucyGoose Thanks this.

Yeah it's just tricky weeding through it all. I feel like all those sites where you can search o/o jobs are pretty much worthless with all results coming up with really low rates. So from all this it just seems I need to get on the load boards and try my luck at finding something.Ruthless Thanks this.
