Well TMC wont hire you without an actual CDL, not just a permit. I thought it was a permit, but the lady I spoke to, she directed me to attend DMACC drivers school. That alone takes 6 weeks, and I am sure they go thru EVERYTHING twice, cause it is twice as long. She said then you come back and go thru the TMC campus and learn how they do things.

Kinda sucks to go that route. I dont just have $4,000 laying around the house, not to mention the cost to go thru 9 weeks of schooling, NOT driving and making money. I think TMC pays like $250-300 a week for training. Like i said, i want to do it right, I just dont want to go thru 5 days of training, and go thru a trainer in 2 days, and be behind the wheel in a week. (i know its longer...but u get my point) ;-)

Why not go to Schneider. They want you to have permit and thats it.

It is NO problem to get this PERMIT. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO TAKE A CLASS TO PASS THIS PERMIT TEST. It is almost as easy as any driving test. Ask your DMV to give your their CLD book. They will usually give you the book and a medical card and document for the doctor to fill out. Dr. costs around $45.00.

Read through the book. I seems like a lot of info to study, but it isn't that big of a deal to go through it. If you have a problem with the book at first come back here and I'll give you some pointers to get through it easier. DON'T LET THE SIZE AND VOL OF INFO BOTHER YOU!

    Hope this helped. :yes2557:

Well my situation is kinda unique. I am unemployeed right now. I am actually looking at getting employment with a truck stop just up the road. Maybe get me up close with trucks and their drivers, and can gain even more information. But i need to scrape up the $$$ to survive on during school. Hope i can do this in a couple weeks.

I would just get a loaf of bread, some fruit, peanut butter and tough it out till you get some cash flow. If you go with TMC they will reimburse your tuition. It will be good training to learn how to survive on next to nothing. Many places you need to know how to do that anyway....:biggrin_2559:

Heck i'm doing that now. I am learning what tastes good in Mac & Cheese, and is cheap enough, i wont spend more than $1.50 making. =)

I was told by MCT that the rooms we stay in are alot like apartments. They have dishes, kitchenettes, everything. So cooking at night wont be that big of a problem Heck, i am sure me and whoever i room with will go halfs on a pizza at least 1 or 10 times. :)

Mac and cheese is good. Add tuna, spam, or potted meat to it and you have a decent meal.

not a fan of any of those 3 items. I've actually used 2 sausage patties from Wal-mart, diced up and mix it...pretty good. =)
