If it ain't one yr. it's another. Drivers have been complaining about the rates for 10yrs.
Yet yall are still here. Must not be that bad.
If it was that bad you would go find a company job or another career.
It would be nice to get another .10 a mile but I don't take it if I feel the need to complain to other drivers.
If you don't like the rate. Don't take it.
Be patient. Brokers do.
They have 100 loads a week to go through. They just move on. There's only so many suckers they can find. When all the suckers are gone in the mourning. Your there to answer the phone.
Learn to listen to there voice words and everything else.
When they call you. Say they really need it to move. The customer will be very happy to see you.
It means they haven't found a truck to willing to take the rate they offered.
Don't be scared to ask for another 100. There making 500 on the deal. Why can't you.
I used to work with an agent that had a deal with his company. The deal is.
500 minimum. They get 50/50 with the company.
If they don't get 500. Say they only got 300. The agent only get 8%. So the company still gets their 200+.
Those Brokers put it out there for 600-700 cut because they know someone is going to ask for another 100.
Ask for 200. Meat in the middle. A lot of loads I see I won't do but if it's close to my $$$ I ask for that 100. The customers are paying 2.5+. Why does the broker get to have all the fun.
Rates in the toilet?

The guy I rented my shop thought that. He sent his employee to drill my door lock out cause he was mad at me.
He thought he was suit proof with that INC. till the judge let all nine of them stay defendants he was happy
to give my building back along with 10K.
INC and LLC protects nothing if you are affiliated with entities operation -
Exactly. The only ones protected by a corporation or llc is investors that have absolutely nothing to do with operations. Basically, your typical share holders.

I've had these guys tell me about LLCing an one truck operation with which I reply you have given away your best pre tax deductions . These are the same ones running for less than a dollar a mile.
Teenagers get gas money not real owner operators -
what are the best pre tax deductions?
-
any that can be put on schedule C as a sole proprietor whereas if your a INC or LLC you have to pay yourself a check and withhold taxes. Sole proprietor you can deduct things like meal per diems pre tax.GO BOT TRUCK Thanks this.
-
You still get those same tax deductions as a llc c or s corp. As c Corp, you pay yourself a check, the Corp gets the entire check as a deduction. And you file taxes as an employee taking the per diem deduction. you can actually save money filing as a c Corp but only if you would otherwise be paying taxes on a certain level of income. I forget the exact amount but I think it's north of 100k net. Not very many of us net that.LumbraX, Ruthless and Superhauler Thank this.
-
WHAT HE SAID^^^^^^ BEEN AN LLC S-CORP FOR YEARS.LumbraX Thanks this.
-
when you file as an employee you have to surpass the standard deductions to use the per diem on a schedule A
and standard deduction for married filing jointly is over 17K to start with.
On schedule C you deduct 80% of the daily amount from your gross and that makes your net smaller that you pay
FICA and other taxes on. You pay FICA on Profits and taxes on amount after all deductions on form 1040.
After a certain point it doesn't matter but I doubt few single truck operators are making that kind of net profit.Boardhauler Thanks this. -
I'm thinking that the owner's personal assets are protected in a bankruptcy but not against criminal activity. What say TTR on that?
